Just Another Newbie!

Greetings To ALL! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I guess I'm the Newbie on the block here. First time visiting this forum, being referred here from a fellow drummer and good friend.

I've checked out some of the postings already, and there seems like a ton of great information here. Hopefully, I can learn a few things, and perhaps lend a hand to someone else with a few of my own experiences.

For the record, 'cause it seems new folks always get hit with the same questions, perhaps I can jump ahead a bit, LOL. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif

I live in Chicagoland area, U.S.A., I'm 44, I've been playing, off & on, approximately 30 years, most of that in live gigs. I took about a 15 year hiatus and just returned to drumming some months ago. Didn't even pick up a drumstick. It feels great to be back. Though I'm having to catch up on some things! And of course, brush up on the chops!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif I'm currently with a band that plays a combination of progressive and hard rock. Some originals, some covers. We're in the early stages of recording and performing. So we've some real work ahead of us in the ensuing months.

Though I've had drum kits from several different manufacturers over the years, I currently use Pearl's, with an array of cymbals from Sabian, Paiste, Zildjian and Wuhan. Oh, and O currently use 5B sticks. 'Cause for some reason, I get asked that a lot. I dunno, they fit my hand, LOL. I use a combination of Traditional, Matched, left handed Traditional and whatever the heck else I can figure out that'll enable me to hit the doggone drums and get the sound I want. I don't care, throw pencils at it! Whatever works, WORKS! Of course, in my own opinon.

Wonderful to find the forum. I look forward to getting a chance to interact with some of you here. And hopefully, expand my horizons.

ThanX A Million,

J.B. Blank

Hey Mightydog! And Hey Elektro!

LOL, Elektro. I was coerced by Ray myself. LMAO! But that's O.K., we ALL need to keep an eye on Moo anyway. 'Cause you KNOW she's gonna misbehave if we don't watch her like a hawk! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome. Bart. We all know each other from postings at other forums, notably the Evans and Remo boards. So we've all been online friends for some time now. I can tell you from personal experience that bb, Ray, Moo, Mightydog & Elektro that are also listed above in this thread are great additions to this or any other forum. Their level of knowledge and enthusiam seem boundless and always encourages me to try and work at a higher level.
