djarrett
For each of us, there has been that set of drums that really did it for us. The one that we still own, or the one that got away! What are the best drums you've ever owned?

felix stein
Anything from sonor seems to really shred with a little TLC...I think DW's are hyped along with all that keller shell BS. Sorry. I played a pearl mahagony masters kit that sounded nice also. I also played a real nice yamaha beech custom recently that akira jimbo played...they had it tuned pretty well. felix's band
Lee Flier
Well, since I'm "really" a guitar player I haven't owned many drums. But a couple of years ago I heard the reissued Gretsch Broadkaster kit and HAD to have one for my studio. It is unbelievable sounding and the shells and hardware are so beautiful too! All the drummers in town love to come over and bash on 'em... which was, of course, my evil plot all along. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif --Lee
Cymbals
The best kit I ever owned, by far, was a custom kit designed by Dale Flanigan of Fortune Drums in Cleveland. I chose the hardware and went over exactly what I liked and didn't like, and he did the rest. I've had sound folks at live shows tell me it is the best they've heard. Sounds great for recording too. A couple of famous drummers have a snare or two of his their collection. I tried all the manufactored stuff - for me it was either not diggin the bass drum, or not diggin the tom sound, so then my cousin, also a drummer, turned me on to Fortune Drums. Fortune Drums easily has the deepest sounding 20" bass drum I've ever seen. Same goes for his 14" floor tom. Incredible. btw: I do not work for the above-mentioned company. Just a very happy customer!
felix stein
being a cleveland native, we are all hip to dale's drums...and some of the best cats in town own a set or a snare He uses Keller shells last I heard (same as dw's and GMS' and probably a few others). One of the local pros brought in one of his fortune snares and I was impressed with its sound. Very maple sounding-I still like the Sonor sound better myself though. felix's band
rebonn
For me it's Premier Signia Maple. The shells are thinner to resonate and is the reason for the support lugs. However I guess they're not really that road worthy because of the thinner shells, so to keep from worrying about em on the road I bought a Pearl Export set on ebay and take that on gigs and the Premier set stays in the studio. www.blairsdevillestudios.com
