What do you all consider to be the best book about Fela Kuti?

Fela: Life And Times Of An African

or

Black President: The Art and Legacy of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti

or

Fela: From West Africa to West Broadway

I want to read more about the man, but dont know where to start...

:freak:

Thanks!

Michiel

I have a DVD I borrowed from my guitarist but I haven't watched it yet, supposed to be very good. I think maybe Phil might have a recommendation to make.
Now theres three of you in a band, youre like a proper band. Youre like the policemen.

Yes, his life story is nothing if not interesting! All those wives too!

His music, which was strongly influenced by James Brown, is exciting and provocative. He is legendary.

Pity he never learbed to play the saxophone in tune (which was one of Bill Laswell's gripes when he worked on Fela's music).
