Greg Olwell
Hi h364, I've actually had the pleasure of playing Flea's bass (shortly before he got it, actually). It was one of the most special instruments I've ever played. The bass's original paint is a super-rare Shell Pink Fender custom color. As far as we can tell, Flea's bass is the only known original early-'60s Shell Pink Jazz Bass. Shell Pink was a faint pink to begin with, so when the top coat yellows with exposure to sunlight, smoke, and time, it barely looks pink any more.
