picker
I am curious if anyone here has any first hand experience using an Alesis Quadraverb as the effects unit in their bass system. Whatcha got to say, guys? Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Dave Brown
I got one several years ago. It sits in a rack case, and hasn't been plugged in in years. When I played around with it, I loved it. Cool reverbs, delays, phasing effects. I don't really use effects all that much. In fact, never. Yep. I'm the other voice in the head of davebrownbass. Big Red 67
Yes, mine died about a year ago. I miss her still. Big Red's Ride Blog
Steve Force
I have a Midiverb and mine does about as much for me as Dave Brown's does for him... I would say---forget it, and go with pedals. jeremy c
I know a lot of guitarists who use those or other Alesis reverb units. They make good products. But reverb, delay, and echo are the least usuable effects for a bassist in my humble experience. Free download of my cd!.
DC Ross
I used one "back in the day" in my guitar rig. I still have it, but it's sitting in the studio. It's got a great flange & pitch shift. It's also got a multi-tap delay that's fun, but pretty much useless I've seen them go for under $100, pick one up on eBay & if it's not for you, get your $$$ back by relisting it. It's not simple to be simple. -H. Matisse Ross Precision Guitars
picker
I got one for under $100 with shipping. It arrived yesterday, and I am working with it to see what I can get out of it. I mainly wanted something to put some flanging or chorus on some slow things I play on my fretless. I thought that would enhance the midrange growl I get from the strings vibrating against the fretboard. I figured a chorus/flange pedal would cost as much or more, the sounds are more hi-fi, and the unit could be useful in other applications as well. And, if I don't like it, I think I can what I have in it out of it fairly easily. I'll let you know what happens. Hey, anybody got a midi pedal they'll let go of cheap? Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. TimR
I also have the Midiverb, but use it for reverb on the Vocals and Sax on the PA, not Bass. I have a Zoom 506 for my bass that has reverb that I used to use but I found that while reverb makes the bass sound nice and thick when playing on its own or even with drums and Piano, it prevents the sound cutting through when playing with more musicians. So I tend not to use anything now. So if you're just using the other FX it should be good. There's some sort of EQ filtering available on it, but you have to read the manual to see how this really works. Feel the groove internally within your own creativity. - fingertalkin
