Bass POD

I have an opportunity to pick up a Bass POD (original version, I think) for about $90. IT doesn't have a manual or the editing software with it. I would probably use it mostly for an FX unit, since I don't need it as a "preamp" per se. So, can anybody tell me about using a one of those things that way, or whether that's a good idea at all. Also the Line 6 web site doesn't seem to have much in the way of manuals or software for the older Bass POD, does anyone have any idea where I can pick that stuff up?

I uploaded the manual for you on my site:

http://midiasylum.com/LDLD/pod_manual/

You'll also find there the last software editor made for the Bass Pod (sound diver).

All this stuff is easily available on Line6's site.

There is a small complement of effects in the first Bass Pod, and they are decent. The tracking on the bass synth is garbage, though.

For about twice that price, you can get a Bass Pod XT which is much more comprehensive. I use the Bass Pod XT Pro, and it kicks ass.

Oh, and if you already have a Pod XT (gtr version), you can get a software model pack for it that adds a major portion of the Bass Pod XT's functionality, models, and cabinets.

"For instance" is not proof.

Thanx much.

I couldn't find it when I went there. All I found was the new stuff for the xt series.

Where can I get one for $180? I'd buy it today if I could find one for that.

The Musicians Friend site had a sample of a patch called "Twin Peaks" that had what sounded like a tremolo on it, sort old Duane Eddy sounding. Can you get that sort of thing with the old POD, or with the model pack for the gtr POD XT?
