Big Daddy from Motown
Anyone figured out what he's using? Red silk on windings might be TI but they don't sound like TI jazz flats.
-Will-
The Bassplayer just said that they were "old flatwounds", I just assumed they were TI's as they are the only ones that I know of that has the red silk. I also assumed that they didn't mention the brand name because he is a GHS endorser. But I have been wrong before. Music has no boundaries. It is yours to discover, to enjoy, to draw from and to pass on to others.
Mike Bear
Does Rotosound use red threading on all their strings. If so, I know they make some popular flats. Mike Bear Artisan-Vocals/Bass Instructor
Rocky McDougall
I thought Flea was endorsed by Fender, if so, wouldn't he be obligted to use Fender strings? Most of the Fender strings I have seen have the red coverings on both ends. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb, voting on what to eat for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb, contesting the vote." Big Daddy from Motown
I've got a set at home ( of the roto's) I'll check. I hated the sound of the Roto's. I've used the TI's and the La Bellas but can't quite feel comfortable with either one yet. Flea is getting a cool sound out of whatever he is using. kenfxj
FWIW, Rotosound flats do have red silk. Both ends. Push the button Frank.
Big Daddy from Motown
Yeah they do. The more I listen to the CD the less it sounds like flatwounds at all.
