I liked all the superhero comics when I was a kid. I don't remember if they were all Marvel or not, but my favorites were Superman, Spidey, the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk. When Hulk mad, Hulk SMASH.

Don't know if I can talk my wife into going to X

Men though. Maybe if I promise to sit through a couple of chick flicks she'll go.

I was a big Marvel fan as a kid. I passed on my collection to my son, who's now a big fan. We have a thing between us that we see each new Marvel movie on opening day. X3 did not disappoint.

I'm not a big action movie fan, I prefer a bit of dialogue in my films.

I was, however, a big Marvel comic fan as a kid - I hated the first X-Men film but loved the second. I disliked both Spidey films and the Hulk? Don't get me started!! Daredevil? Pah! Fantastic Four? Snigger! I guess great effects don't make a great movie and neither do decent comic books.

I liked the movie, but the comic book geek in me was EXTREMELY pissed off and disappointed by the story line!

I haven't seen it yet, but plan to do so. Definitely with my 15 year old son, maybe I'll get the wife to go, too. I like the first two. Had some issues with them and "history", being a long-time comic fan; and I didn't like Ian McKellan as Magneto. Otherwise, good stuff.

Spiderman movies were excellent. Daredevil was decent and got a bad rap. Electra was ok but didn't explain a lot of stuff- as a comic fan, I think the movies take too much time establishing a character I assume everone already knows; this one assumed too much, especially about The Hand. Fantastic Four was pretty good, light where it needed to be but good action and characterization throughout; I just didn't like how they used Doom. Not "traditional" enough for me. Hulk- yeah, that ended up being pretty bad, especially Absorbing Man and the ending. Never saw Punisher (recent one- I did see the old Dolph Lundgren one); nor the Blade movies. Not a character I was ever interested in; plus it had Wesley Snipes. But it must have been "good" enough to merit two sequels, right?

I had heard that they wer working on Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Panther movies; wonder if or when they'll be released?

Iron Man could be interesting.

I really enjoyed Sin City although I have to admit I never read any of the comics\graphic novels\whatever before the movie came out. I just thought the comic book style and violence worked really well.

X3 is a great movie. I'm glad I was geeking out the night before playing a MMO so I knew to stick around after the credits.

Sin City is a good flick. Electra sucked. Havent seen all of Daredevil, Hulk had its moments. Both Spiderman flicks rocked! Altho i'm a huge fan of Sam Rami (and Bruce Campbell) so they definatly made it to my growing collection

I'm a freaking huge Iron Man fan.

And I'm proud to admit that I still collect the Iron Man comic every month!

Really looking forward to the movie.

Favorite comic book movie:

No, the Toxic avenger became a comic book AFTER the movie.

Wrong again, not Superman III. Though Richard Pryor was... ok, embarassing.

drum roll please...

Mystery Men! What a great flick, and great casting job. I could watch that over and over.

My Marvel-mania I can trace back to the late 60s, roughly around the same time I was getting bored with DC and discovered girls. Funny coincidence, but I guess it's the same with most of you if you think about it a little.

Anyway, X3 was beautiful and tragic and would be hard to avoid unless you can wait out the summer for a DVD release. (with those state-of-the art FXs, I don't think so) But I have to agree with one critic who said there wasn't a scene in X3 to rival the scene in X2 when Magneto broke out of prison. That was a rare cinematic moment that proved the value of the right director in any film: Bryan Singer has it, and Brett Ratner doesn't.

I also think X3 was an excuse to kill off characters who would make X4 (which may or may not happen, corporate greed being what it is) too expensive to film and a waste to the "Phoenix" story which was simply larger in print and animation that this film portrayed. From the film one gets the idea it's about the female version of the Oedipus story; they could have done more. Also the fact that Hugh Jackman was already signed/contracted to the "Wolverine" project before he committed to X3 is an indicator.

BTW, I didn't stay past the credits to get the last scene and I'm not spending another $8-10 just to see that. Can anyone PM that to me?

Anyway, if you saw the trailer for the next Superman movie, you'll get my drift about Singer. This may be the man to bring the DC universe back to the movies, along with Chris Nolan ("Batman Begins"). Big budgets and better FXs aren't enough: it's still about the director and the right vision to make it happen.

I thought Batman Begins was great until about the last ½ hour and then, in my opinion, it turned into just another silly Batman movie with the usual plot.

What did you really expect?

It is after all, based on a Comic Book

Expect it to be more "real life"? if that is what your after, check out Unbreakable for some 'real life' comic book heros

Absolutely. And if you like that Sixth Sense and 12-monkeys. I'm not usually a Bruce Willis fan but they were IMO 3 of his best films.

"What did you really expect?

Sorry but I disagree, all of the Batman films have attempted to have more in common with the Dark Knight series than the normal Batman comics although they've never quite achieved it.

The first Batman wasn't so bad, although it was really saved by Jack Nicholson's deliberate hammed performance. The subsequent movies were a ridiculous joke - something I thought the last movie had managed to avoid until the last half hour.

If it was a nice comic book movie they were trying to achieve then they should make them U certificate so kids can go see them.

I've seen Unbreakable, it wasn't bad but it was more of a psychological thriller that happened to have someone delusional about superheroes.

Well, to all in the know - I can say that there are some (as always with Comic book to movie conversions) inaccuracies (Spl. ?) , but for the most part & Def. to the normal movie go'er, there is nothing that would change the story line....

There was no mention of Juggernaught being a half brother to Xavier, or that his power is not Mutant but "Magical" ~~ minor stuff, but something a avid reader would know.

& I counted two "Fastball specials" in the flick

which was very cool & also "Iceman" went full

ice at only one short bit. I guess I missed

some of the characters I saw in the credits,

Did anyone see some more characters ?

Just saw X-Men 3 the other night and being a fan of the first two I was disappointed. The plot seemed to have a lot going for it in the intial half hour, then many of the subplots were either abandoned or not done justice. Too many major characters killed off for my liking too, and as for the after-credits twist... it was like they didn't have the balls to just leave it where it was. Here's hopeing that they don't make any more, i'd hate to see the franchise go the way of Batman (at least until Batman Begins which was awesome!)

I am taking this as an entrance to Sci Fi and Comics in general. Sorry to get off topic in the off topic thread.

I never cared for marvel, I like the X-men comics, and even more I like the Wolverine comic but for the most part I wont read marvel comics at all. I dont really get excited about C.G. so I guess thats why I dont go to see their movies either.

I have been a D.C. vertigo/ Alan Moore fan. I also read Sin City. Now that was one very accurate portrayal of a book. Amazing.

But V for Vendetta, Constantine (Moore created Constantine in the swamp thing comics) and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen sucked bad, reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal bad. I dont think Alan Moore was happy either.

I havent seen X3 yet and wont until it come out on dvd. The first 2 werent that fantastic so I wont go to the movies for it.

Now whoever said Unbreakable, Sixth Sense and 12 Monkeys were good movies; I agree

Also, Dune the movie sucked super bad. But I guess you cant really get all of that book into a movie. At lease they could have tried to get some of the underlying political ideas of the book into the movie. Really they messed up almost everything from the book.

WARNING!!! SPOILERS (almost)

X3 didn't suck, but it wasn't very good either. I've been telling people that it pissed me off. Fred, I think you're totally right about killing characters off for sequels. The plot wasn't very good, but it could have been greatly improved with a handful of character changes. Replace Juggernaught and the Morlocks (also the unexplained Spike character) with the original members of Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (Avalanche, the Blob and Destiny), possibly also including previous villains Sabretooth and Toad ... and suddenly the X3 script sets up several good sequels. Here's why:

The thing that pissed me off most was the unnecessary ret-con of Juggernaught. In the comics, Juggernaught's powers are mystical and he is Professor X's half brother. Juggernaught gains his super strength and invincibility by stealing a magic crystal and his helmet is made of a magic allow that prevents Charles Xavier from reading or manipulating his mind. In the movie he is a mutant, no relation to Prof. X with no backstory. A stupid and unnecessary change. Replace Juggernaught's scenes with either the Blob or Sabretooth, and save the real Juggernaught for X4 or a Professor X titled sequel (Juggernaught is certainly powerful enough to be a lead villain and not just another Magneto sidekick).

Ratner and Co. equally f*cked up the Morlocks, starting with their leader Calisto. In the comics, Calisto could never identify mutants' powers ... so use the precognitive Destiny to fill that role. In her fight scenes with Storm, replace Calisto with Toad (recalling their previous fights in X1) or Avalanche (to pit his earthquake powers against her weather manipulation). Don't get me wrong, the Calisto fight sequences with Storm were some of the better action sequences ... but in the comics Storm and Calisto have a real rivalry because Storm won control over the Morlocks to save her nephew Spyke. Save Calisto and the Morlocks for a Storm titled sequel (which would also feature Spyke and the Shadowking). Getting rid of the Morlocks also eliminates the mischaracterizations of Kid Alpha (never a Morlock and his movie powers better resemble Quill), Psylocke (never a Morlock) and Arclight (a Marauder, not a Morlock).

An additional advantage to replacing Juggernaught and the Morlocks with Avalanche, the Blob and Destiny is that it could be used to set up a Rogue titled sequel (though Avalanche, Blob, Pyro and Destiny would need to survive the Phoenix for this to work). Rogue aligns with Mystique and Co., then eventually steals Carol Danver/Miss Marvel's powers to create the Rogue we all know and love. Now, replace the poorly constructed Spike character with Sabretooth in the Wolverine action sequence in the woods, so you would also set up a Weapon X or Wolverine titled sequel.

But perhaps I've thought too much about this. ;)

I just saw the movie yesterday and loved it. How about that Golden Gate Bridge? Wow...

Looking forward to Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns."
