I've got to get off my butt and get my board assembled in a useful and usable way.

Nice Bump. Where on earth did you find a power strip with such a long chord though...I could use one of those!

Where did you get that pedal board Bump? Is it custom made?

Of course, I'm still wondering what the Muary board looks like as well...

Mine would be happy to visit yours. The ZVex pedals would get along famously I'm sure.

A little more information on this monstrosity that I've created:

Signal path is: Volume pedal -> Octabass -> Bassballs -> Mammoth -> Big Muff -> H&K Tubefactor -> TC Electronics -> Delay -> AMP

The tonal variations between the different over drive pedals is really nice to have. The Woolly Mammoth pedal is a "must have" for any bass player who ever uses overdrive. People here have talked about them and raved about how wonderful they are. That was the last pedal to arrive and it showed up yesterday. It is simply amazing. Everything that people have said before about their tone and the fat bottem end that you retain is all very extremely true.

The only thing that was an after thought to this monstrosity is the H&K. I use the H&K as a preamp for my 12-string. Basically to add a little bit of overdrive to the sound all the time. The H&K is the only overdrive pedal that I've found works "the right way" with the 12-string. It sounds like some of the recorded tones where the signal has been split and sent to different amps (usually a guitar amp and a bass amp) to achieve the big Doug Pinnick tone from hell. The H&K mimics that tone fairly well and does so without all the other amp nonsense.

I'd put a pic up of my pedalboard but it isn't as tidy as the other one's posted. Actually my guitarist and I went in on another spool of Mogami cables and Neutrik plugs and were re-wiring our racks and such this week. My problem is I am always changing my pedalboard around and taking things out of the loop from band to band when I don't need them. I'm pranoid about sound quality loss. My goal is to replace whatever I don't have yet with true bypass pedals. I think the only thing I have that's true bypass so far is my Aphex Punch Factory. Of course my quest will continue when Bump sends me his TC Chorus =). Man, after over 10 years will those things every go down in price?

The board itself is made by Pedaltrain . I got the middle size (PT/2). There is a dealer local to me and they had just got an order in the day prior to me going shopping for one. I'm also fairly sure they have them priced wrong as I paid a mere $160 for it and the Pedaltrain website lists the PT/2-HC at $299.99. That hard shell case would cost more than $160 to have it built, let alone the cost of the aluminum that the board itself is made from. Thanks to Maury for suggesting this board!

I'll use this setup for a while and get comfortable with it and make sure I don't want to add anything else. After such time has passed I may get stupid and build a completely custom enclosure for the whole mess. Take the guts out of all the pedals, get new knobs/switches so they are all uniform, build in a power supply and just have master in/out 1/4" jacks on the side of it.

I doubt it on the the price. It's a high quality piece of gear and worth every cent. I haven't even tried the flange yet because a.) I rarely if ever use flange and b.) the chorus just sounds so tasty.

Wow, you've really got your volume cranked up on your Bassballs - do you like the distortion setting? I'm not too keen.

That might be part of your problem. That's not a volume knob, it's a sensitivity knob. It affects how the filter(s) react to your attack. It may seem like it's a volume knob if you have the right frequencies cranked up on your amp - but wow those would be high frequencies.

I like the sound with the distortion engaged. I think that's the second filter that you are turning on/off with the 'distortion' switch. I'm not 100% sure how the inner workings are laid out in this thing I just know it has more character with it engaged. I've found that the Bassballs + Big Muff makes for interesting and joyous sounds.

The Bassballs pedal is not your standard/typical distortion/overdrive pedal by any stretch of the imagination. It's also not an auto-wah or envelope filter. People seem to buy it thinking that it's one of those things and it is not.

:D There is a space for it above the volume pedal and I fully plan on setting it there when I'm gigging. I didn't want to stick it to the board because I bring my tuner with me everywhere and don't always bring the pedalboard.

Yes. If you've ever heard a TC Electronics chorus you would completely understand. They sound awesome.

I'll make a bunch of sound clips when I get my studio put back together. It's currently sitting in pieces around my house because I'm remodeling my basement. The basement should be done within the next 2 weeks so sometime after that.

The H&K Tubefactor is a pedal that I've had for a while and I scored it used for $100; they're $300 new. The rest of the pedals were just purchased. It was painful but I did it because I knew what I wanted and it just happened to turn out that what I wanted was spendy. The really nice thing is that I have a ton of gigs with my cover band spanning the entire summer that all pay really well. :) I'll have paid for this whole mess by the third gig regardless of whether or not I've sold my old stuff by then.

Give me a call or email me and I'll let ya know where I bought my Pedaltrain. :) They have 4 left as of yesterday.

Honestly, according to my manual, if the switch is up in envelope filter mode the dial is a sensitivity dial but if it is down in distortion mode it acts as a volume - seriously, if I turn it totally anti-clockwise in distortion mode the sound cuts out altogether.

How does that TC Chorus pedal compare to the TC 1210 Spatial Expander Chorus Flanger?

Any idea?

One last question and please excuse my ignorance:

Do you loose any bottom end when you use that TC pedal? I guess what I'm asking is does it mantain your "bass sound".
