Connie, are you ok? how's your house and your mama? i hope all is well. robb. Hi Robb! Thanks for thinkin' 'bout me! My "Mama" and my family are all ok. On Williams Blvd. it picked up the roof off of a firehouse and placed it on top of a pickup truck. Pretty strong there. That's about 6 blocks from my house. (I still have a blue roof on my house, which totally survived the strong winds - I am very impressed!) Electricity was out all day at my office in Jefferson, near the Orleans parish line, from the tornado knocking down power lines on River Road. In poor battered Lakeview (already devestated by the hurricane), several houses were demolished by a Cat 2 tornado, and a lady was injured and had to be taken to the hospital. Is supposedly tracked a half block path of damage from Kenner near the airport to Lakeview. Terminal C of the airport was shut down, cause it knocked over one of the Skyways' and tore off some of the roof of the building. I've heard that this is all signalling the start of El Nino. Has anyone else heard this? It sounds about right. Thanks again for asking Robb! ... Connie Z
Thanks everyone! I drove down Jefferson Highway today, which is about a half mile from my office in Jefferson, LA, which is directly on the New Orleans/Jefferson border, and was stunned to see two buses on their sides, and a car completely upside down! All from those crazy tornadoes that touched down the other day. Mother Nature is a WITCH sometimes! I was very near a small tornado one time and I will never forget the sensation and the sound and the FEAR! I'll take a flood any day! ... connie z "Change comes from within." - Jeremy Cohen The definition of LUCK: When Preparation meets Opportunity! http://www.cybergumbo.com
