fingertalkin
I finally placed an ad on craigslist to find some people to play with. Apparently guitar players are afraid of my lack of experience. I have received a few offers from drummers to come and jam, but I have never played with a drummer. My problem is that I wouldn't know what to play. What do you do? Any suggestions? ps. congrats on the excellent practice plastic How do you sign a computer screen? Tim C
well thank you, fingertalkin all the advice i can give is just go in there, relax, and play what you've got. if the drummer can't make beats to you and you can't make lines to his beats it may just be the wrong person or the wrong time. but one thing i can say for sure is that the only way to learn what to play when jamming with a drummer is to do it. bounce ideas off eachother and find common ground, after that it should be smooth sailing. hmmm... Aussie bass dude
12 bar blues mate, thats how I started...very easy to jam with btw I would much prefer to have a drummer over a guitarist in a two person jam no beer until July
Cthulhu Fhtagn
Concur. The 12 bar is a really good way for a drummer and bassist to learn to lock in while playing something that sounds meaningful. jlrush
Start out with a slow blues jam and work into a medium shuffle, then a fast shuffle. Same notes, different tempos. Or learn the words to a simple rock song or two and one or both of you can sing. Pick songs with simple 8th note beats. fingertalkin
Thanks guys. I found a guitarist to join in so it could be alot of fun. I think that adding a guitar would be good for me so that way I can follow his lead until I become comfortable playing with other people. Yes, it hurt me to sy that. Ps jlrush, I am an outstanding singer, I can really belt out some vocals on some of best instrumental songs you've ever heard How do you sign a computer screen?
