The Fonz
i have a set of unbranded 5 string soapbar humbuckers. they sound decent. they were purchased from a liquidator who bought the stock from an out-of-business builder. i plan to put them on ebay. should i sell them separately or as a matched set? Eeeeeehhhhhhhhh.
g.
Who was the builder? Of little reputation so that mentioning the name would not have additional monetary gravity? ; } .

g.
What's the sizes? What magnet construction? Flat bars/rails? Pole pieces with plate? What type of coil arrangement? 2 screws in body, or with ears? How many wires in the leads? Got any idea the DC resistance? .
LLroomtempJ
you'll probably get more money if you do it separately. Also, if you sell them one after the other, you can get a good idea as to what kind of market you have and you can price the second pickup accordingly. jason 2cor5:21 Soli Deo Gloria "it's the beauty of a community. it takes a village to raise a[n] [LLroomtempJ]." -robb My YouTube Channel
The Fonz
greenie: don't have that much tech specification. there are two leads: white and black. as for magnet construction, they are fully enclosed and cleanly sealed with wax but i would wager poles. four screw hole on the corners, no dogears. sized at 4x1.5 inches, and that's a very accurate measurement which i tend to believe indicates american manufacture (foreign built would be sized metrically, no?). they look and sound like barts, but they have absolutely no branding on them whatsoever nor is there any evidence that there ever was any (no scars like it was scratched off, the covers are clean). Eeeeeehhhhhhhhh.
g.
If I knew they were multiple coil... Ever plug one in and tap around on the top to find what the internal form factor actually is? .
The Fonz
no, but i did install them and give them a whirl. pretty meaty. i'm really only going to list them at about $10 or so each. i forget what i paid for them but at the time it was something like $20 each without a garauntee that they even worked (the dealer offered to refund them if they didn't). i think i actually have 2 more floating around somewhere if i looked hard enough. g.
4 x 1.5 is a size that fits my Ibe SIX. I might be interested in a couple just to mess around with. If they actually have a sensing aperture that wide. Thus the interest in magnetic design. .
