LizzyD
Wow, neato! I've never listened to Rancid, now I have a reason to check them out. My site | Facebook
Nicklab
Very cool Jeremy! I've always dug Rancid, and Matt Freeman's playing has always been a big reason why. It's awesome to know that you're partly responsible for that. Congratulations! It's equally commendable that Matt's such a cool guy to think of you with this kind of honor in mind. She taught me lots about music, but the aspect I remember most was (and still is) her enthusiasm. Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. Tom Capasso
I did it. I took my post (above) and put it into a letter, with some explanation and further "thank you" stuff. I printed it out and stuck it in a Stonefly CD, and handed it to my teacher on Sunday before Mass. This morning (Ash Wednesday) I played at the 7:30 service, and she came up to me to thank me. She said she enjoyed the CD and really appreciated the sentiments expressed. Funny thing - she got a letter from someone else about a year ago thanking her for the great music experience. The person who wrote was my age !! After 30+ years of teaching, how strange that two "post retirement" thankyous came from the same class !! The message behind this post is not about me and my teacher, but encouragement to all of you with good memories. Take a few minutes and write a thank you. It will make you feel good, and make someone else feel wonderful. Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. jeremy c
These thank you notes mean a lot to us teachers. A few years ago I got one from Arion Salazar of Third Eye Blind. And then Arion gave a significant cash contribution to The Blue Bear School of Music where he studied with me and others. (He was a scholarship student at the school....and one of the most talented bassists I've ever met.) Free download of my cd!.
bspangleyahoo.com
Double Congrats, JC, to you!! My day job for years has been teaching HS Physics (all levels from 'bonehead' through the Calculus-based Electromagnetism AP course) & it's always a trill when I see one of my ex's out in a store, or as happens frequently, when I'm gigging at a wedding reception, a corp event, or at a local watering hole. Some who come to me to 'say hey' are not my best (in SC grammar: bestest) students, but we almost always share a fond memory and/or laugh. For the ones who have moved on to become engineers in the various disciplines, doctors, lawyers and other assorted Indian Chiefs, I always graciously ask for a contribution of only 1% of their gross earnings to my favorite charity: the Bill Spangler Codger & Old Fogie Support Trust Fund.
