Bottom End
We are trying to do a "user generated" setlist where we learn tunes people really want to hear. We did something similar, we ignored the suggestions that we absolutely could not stand to play. Seamy's post brings up a good point; having a deep set list allows a "rock and roll bar band" to pick up and play more of what the audience wants to hear. My favorite bar band (to listen to) had at least 100 songs nailed, as well as two dozen originals, so they never played the same set twice, I'd go to see them 3 night in a row and ws always pleasantly surprised. My goal is to be in a band with that much depth and versatility. "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song. Tom Capasso
Seamy - just curious. Which "Shook Me" (AC/DC or Zep?) - and which Creep (Radiohead or STP)? quite a list. CaptainCutthroat
The CC set list for next Friday (Friday the 13th!) Goes like this. Deep in the Freaks Crucif**ked Electric Laxative Cholitas Sabre-tooth Queen Stonehenge (I know I know..it's a tentative title) Paradox 10/4 (yes it is in 10/4 time, also a tentative title) Kingdom Come (The Western) about 45-50 minutes. butcherNburn
Hey Rowbee & Phil W, I never noticed before but it seams like music from the USA is very popular with UK bands. Am I right? If so, why? Rocky It's a good thing the Brits gave us a kick in the pants and made us rediscover our own music (mutations) in the 60's. If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing! Aye it is the same guys Ed. We also have a 2 piece band that plays bars with sequenced drums. We work really well together, me and Jonny have been playing music with each other since we were 16, Darren our Drummer is an amazing musician as is Enda our goto guy when we need a second guitarist (also a life long friend). All the different bands complete all our musical ambitions. ALB would be the art side of us and the other projects generate the income to make it all viable. It does get busy but you just have to be strict with the time management and set deadlines, there is nothing like a booked gig or studio session to motivate you. With each of us there is also a strong desire not to let the other guys down. http://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Little-Bitter/185235472447
_Sweet Willie_
Our setlist looks like pieces of paper with song titles printed on them. How many pieces of paper does it look like? Are the pieces of paper usually white with black print, or do you sometimes go out of the box (e.g., yellow paper with navy blue print)? Ours is typically a single sheet of paper with 9-10 original songs listed on it in rather large black font. We play a single set of about 45-50 minutes at our typical club gig. Peace. --SW spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. Messiaen knew how to parlay the funk.

Tom Capasso
Our setlist looks like pieces of paper with song titles printed on them. Ours is in big print for us to easily see - one set per page. It is done in Excel and has the following columns: Song Name Time (approximated in whole minutes for planning purposes) WWJD (what would John do - is there a retuning or guitar change) WWSD (what would Steve do - is there a retuning or guitar change) WWCD (what would Chris do - Harp or Sax, and what key the song is in) Say it together folks - GEEK! CaptainCutthroat
P.S. We have an old song called "Lesbians & Burn Victims" too, that is based on a true story about a party in our singer and keyboard players' old apartment.
