SteveC
Actually, mine (though not programable) has that as well. It's probably fine. I'm going to gig the rig the way it is a few times and see how it goes.
nosamiam
My band's singer just had me buy an Art Pro Channel for us to use in our basement studio. It's just been sitting there unused while we wait on a few more pieces to arrive. We are planning on using it primarily as a mic preamp. But I just decided the other day to give it a try, mainly for the compressor because I just got a new, much more powerful cab which is going to require me to even out my tone a little between fingerstyle and pickstyle. I tested it out as guitar pre-->keyboard poweramp section of combo. VERY flexible and tough to get a bad sound out of. It has a tube preamp, tube compressor, and tube equalizer. There are insert points between each section, allowing you to use just the stage(s) you want or to change the order of the stages. Cool little piece of gear. $300 street price. Sort of intermediately priced between the cheaper ART stuff and the higher-end RNP and Avalon, wouldn't you say? I'll try it at rehearsal tonight and see how it sounds in my bass rig.
