danb291
Recently my bass has been going out of tune at a rapid pace. The strings are probably a month old now, and even though I've been playing more in the past few days than over the last month, I don't think it's them. It's gotten to the point where I have to retune my bass every day because it is flat, which I don't think is normal. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to correct this? I think tightening my truss rod might help, but I'm not sure.
dsanders
There is nothing wrong with you having to retune your bass everyday. It all depends on the quality of hardware on the instrument, and how you play. If you strike/pluck hard then it is normal for you to need to tune up. I don't think a trussrod adjustment is necessary. I usually check my tuning once in a six or seven song set, and the tuning maintains really well on my main bass.
JD_dup2
It could also be the weather. Gross changes in temperature and/or humidity can cause your tuning to go out.
PhilMan99
Me too - I've attributed it to weather...
Basshappi
Your tuners might be slipping. You can tighten them via the screw at the base of the key stem. EddiePlaysBass
Yeah make sure you store it in a place where the temperature stays even all the time. It does help "I'm a work in progress." Micky Barnes The Ross Brown Shirt World Tour
Mike H.
Depending on where you live, the lack of humidity this time of year causes your neck to relief and bow. The strings flatten in pitch with this. Adjusting the truss rod may help. http://www.identity5.net
