_Sweet Willie_
I am totally fascinated by your instruments. What kind of pickup do you have in that bass? And, could you share some of your thoughts about pickup placement for an "electro-acoustic" bass such as this? Gracias! Peace. --SW spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. Peace. --SWThe magnetic pickup is a Kent Armstrong. The piezo is a standard disc style that I've modified and reworked to my spec. The magnetic pickup is located for a more "mellow" tone that allows a good contrast with the bright piezo. About the 25th fret position. At this location specifically for use in my "MagPi" system. This PASSIVE system allows a HIGHLY dynamic touch response from the player...you don't want to use a compressor; you'll want the hear the attack transient "blossom". wraub
Dave, I have followed your work for a while now. Simply, really nice looking stuff. I'd love to see/hear/play one in person someday... Peace, wraub I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.
_Sweet Willie_
Thanks, Dave. I appreciate your clear answers. I, too, would like to try one of your fretless basses some day. I'm sure that day will one day come! (Perhaps one of my annual summer encounters with Jeremy... ) Peace. --s-dub spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars.
