I am totally fascinated by your instruments.

What kind of pickup do you have in that bass?

And, could you share some of your thoughts about pickup placement for an "electro-acoustic" bass such as this?

Gracias!

Peace.

Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars.

Messiaen knew how to parlay the funk.

The magnetic pickup is a Kent Armstrong. The piezo is a standard disc style that I've modified and reworked to my spec.

The magnetic pickup is located for a more "mellow" tone that allows a good contrast with the bright piezo. About the 25th fret position. At this location specifically for use in my "MagPi" system.

This PASSIVE system allows a HIGHLY dynamic touch response from the player...you don't want to use a compressor; you'll want the hear the attack transient "blossom".

Dave, I have followed your work for a while now. Simply, really nice looking stuff.

I'd love to see/hear/play one in person someday...

Peace,

I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

Thanks, Dave. I appreciate your clear answers. :thu:

I, too, would like to try one of your fretless basses some day. I'm sure that day will one day come! (Perhaps one of my annual summer encounters with Jeremy... ;):D )

Peace.
