freddy bloggs
the "AMP" bass head? That is the actual brand name, "AMP". I think they became another company, but i'd love to find out any info you may have. It was back in the days before the internet, so i couldn't find any info. Cheers,
Sean Eldon
not sure, but my buddy used a bass amp head called "BASS" for about 5 years. i wonder if they were made by the same people. it was just a giant tweed box with a couple of knobs, and the "BASS" logo took up 75% of the head. http://www.purevolume.com/seaneldon
jeremy c
It was invented by Steve Rabe after he worked for Acoustic, and before he started SWR. He now owns Raven Labs. article which took 1 second to find on Google Free download of my cd!.

GTRBass
I had am AMP bass head for a couple of years. Basically they were made by SWR, before they actually became SWR. Good sounding amp. They are more of a "hi fidelity" rather than a "hi gain" amp, and better suited for jazz or lower volume players. I sold mine to an upgright player who was very happy with it. The cool thing they made (which I didn't have) were these scoop style (thiele design) 15" cabs that folded into themselves as a road case.
DONUT
Unfortunately,Raven Labs is out of buisness now. I found this out when I was calling around for my True Blue. There is a similar product line coming out involving Rick Turner and some other well known company (memory fails). I guess the Thunderfunk amps are similar to the old AMP. I've hears some folks say they like them even better. I have not tried them, but, from what I've read,it doesn't sound like my kind of deal anyway. www.thunderfunk.com

It was nice. Not quite for me, but very nice. I posted a thread about it soon after giving it a test run. Peace. --SW spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. rotosound45
This is cool stuff... I had an AMP pre-amp that had lots-o-knobs for a short period of time. I don't remember much else about it, other than it sounded really good.
alexclaber
http://www.thunderfunk.com/images/TFB420_3D.jpg Dave Funk hangs out at talkbass, seems a cool guy and I've hardly heard a bad word about this amp. If I was in the market for a 400W head this would be top of the list, given my predilection for a predominantly neutral tone with dash of SWR. Plus, it's made by a man called Funk - that's gotta be worth something! _Sweet Willie_
Dave Funk is a very nice guy. After playing his amp at a store I sent him an e-mail asking a couple of questions and his reply was swift and courteous. Peace. --SW spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars.
