I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

I had am AMP bass head for a couple of years. Basically they were made by SWR, before they actually became SWR. Good sounding amp. They are more of a "hi fidelity" rather than a "hi gain" amp, and better suited for jazz or lower volume players. I sold mine to an upgright player who was very happy with it.

The cool thing they made (which I didn't have) were these scoop style (thiele design) 15" cabs that folded into themselves as a road case.

Unfortunately,Raven Labs is out of buisness now. I found this out when I was calling around for my True Blue. There is a similar product line coming out involving Rick Turner and some other well known company (memory fails).

I guess the Thunderfunk amps are similar to the old AMP. I've hears some folks say they like them even better. I have not tried them, but, from what I've read,it doesn't sound like my kind of deal anyway. www.thunderfunk.com

Keep your eye out for one of these on the used market,

One of the local pawn shops has one with a $600 price tag on it and it is well used... Which may explain why it has been there for, like, 2 years.

I've played one of these. It was nice. Not quite for me, but very nice. I posted a thread about it soon after giving it a test run.

Peace.

Rick Turner has started a company with Seymour Duncan called D-TAR focusing on acoustic amplification products ( www.d-tar.com ). These include a preamp, EQ, mixer, etc.

Dave Funk hangs out at talkbass, seems a cool guy and I've hardly heard a bad word about this amp. If I was in the market for a 400W head this would be top of the list, given my predilection for a predominantly neutral tone with dash of SWR. Plus, it's made by a man called Funk - that's gotta be worth something!
