Jimbroni
Well since I'm newly married, I spend a significant amount of time trying to make my wife happy. Other than that I chose all 6. bassaddik
well, since I am twice divorced, I am now doing what I want to do when I want to do it and with whom I want to do it. I has been diffucult to get it into my head, but I no longer have to feel guilty if what I am doing is something for myself. It really has taken some soul searching to convince myself that it is my life now and no one else's - I miss my ex and I loved her very much and guess I still do in some way... but it is what it is.. so now, i practice whenever possible and try to play the "let's see how many gigs I can play this week" game. Right now, thank God , it's 6 nights a week ( sometimes 7 and a few doubles thrown in), so I am a happy camper to play my bass for a living.. thank You , Lord. Praise ye the LORD. ....praise him with stringed instruments and organs... getz out
I work a lot, but usually at work, I'm on the LDL. I gig quite a bit (lately). I play quite a bit (sometimes alone, sometimes not alone). I read a lot. I cook a lot. One thing I don't do a lot of... sleep. Ugg...
JBFLA
Lots of "Huh?"'s there (me, included). Maybe a needed catagory would be - "Work a day gig. Play on weekends. Practice on the nights I don't have rehearsal, the System Admin frowns on on-line forums, I need to pick up the kid(s) from b-ball practice, have to stay late at work, can't get on the 'Net because my daughter is on, MSN Dial-Up sucks, (as a single parent) there's laundry/dishes/vaccuming/shopping/homework to go over/be done, "I'm frickin tired - is there a 'bot that can autoreply while I take care of biz, or ..." hmmm...maybe that's too long of an option for a poll question? _Sweet Willie_
I picked number 2 -- all true except for the "play gigs" part. I haven't done that in a while. Funny how a wife, two small children, a new job, and recent long hours working on a dissertation can take the musician out of the gig (but not the gig out of the musician!). ...
Recently, I've been spending a lot of time working on remodelling my house. When I haven't been doing that, I've been busy ripping CDs to this stupid firewire drive (I'm in the "S's" now). Other than that, eat, drink, be merry. I really need to practice more. I've been a total and complete slacker with my practicing lately and I'm noticing it in my playing. Bugger. Note to self: practice, practice, practice. ian101
I work a day job during the week and practice after work getting ready for weekend band practice. I've just recently joined a band with a badass guitarist and drummer so pretty much everything but work revolves around that. Every weekend is like Christmas morning. tnb
Thanks BenLoy! I play Mr. Mom all day, then play bass all night. My daughter is still doesn't believe I have a job. Neither does my wife, for that matter. When I am not here at the Lowdown, I am usually hanging out at one of the political forums. Or looking at basses, but I tell my wife that I am actually looking at porn. The word "porn" makes her a lot less nervous than the word "luthier". The Bear Jew
Hmmm... I didn't see a category that matches my lifestyle: "I practice, listen to music, play gigs, record, pick up hookers, hit them on the head with a shovel and bury them on the New Jersey Turnpike." Wait. I shouldn't have mentioned that last bit. Ah... it's a lie, anyway. I bury them in my basement. butcherNburn
I'm looking for a job, about to up my skills to better my opportunities. I haven't spent too much time wanking on the Internet. As a (former) professional computer geek, I sick of non-productive time on the PC. I play when I'm inspired. Sometimes force myself when I'm not. I wish I was motivated to find a new bunch to jam with but no. The only problem is, I haven't been so inspired lately, even before my layoff. I'm not depressed or anything. Actually I've always been my best when depressed/pissed off/angry/or sick. If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing!

_Sweet Willie_
tnb sez: Speaking of porn, anyone know why Carey Nordstrand hasn't updated his site lately???Not sure. Wondering the same thing. Arrived at three possible answers. 1. He's out searching the world for the perfect walnut top for my upcoming Fish o' Luv. 2. He hasn't quite finished the last batch of basses. 3. He hasn't taken professional photos yet of this last batch of basses. Carey seems to like to have excellent photos of his work on his site -- probably why I should have a "drool cup" installed over my keyboard. Does that help? Peace. --SW spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! I like the new offering with the light bit in the middle. S-Dub-Mo-Money: The bridge and pickups are going to hide 90% of that light spot. Rick Hoffman
Well, I live with my gf so I guess you could say I'm almost married. I have a flexible day job, in home improvement - family business. I practice when I get home at 3-330 when no one else is home. I own a PS2 but I don't play much lately. I party with friends go to concerts, see live music when I can get free time. I rehearse with 2 bands now on a weekly basis. I browse Ebay for vintage gear. Tom Capasso
Ben - why wasn't "bruise my ribs" or "damage myself" one of the options? Carey - great to hear work is starting on the "fish-o-luv". Since we're talking about Willie, will the wood be "crotch walnut" ??
