JanJ
Okay, I just read about the upgraded Mesa cabs here: http://www.mesaboogie.com/amplitudes/2004/Sept04/SummerNAMM.htm It also got me thinking: How do 12's sound compared to 10's and 15's? My gear: Ibanez SR3005ESOL Korg DTR-2000 Mesa/Boogie Basis M-2000 (For sale) Mesa/Boogie Powerhouse 1000 (For sale)

Or alternatively, less bottom than 15"s and less punch than 10"s. However, bear in mind that there's way more to it than speaker diameter. An Acme 10" has significantly more bottom end, both in terms of extension and sheer bass weight, and less midrange punch and hotness than a compact Bag End 15". I suspect these Mesa 12" cabs are using very similar drivers (if not identical ones) to the Neo 12" in the Walkabout combo, in which case I'd expect them to sound very nice indeed, with plenty of bottom, punch and the potential to go really loud. The tri-port tuning system is an interesting one - I presume they're trying to get the broader resonant reinforcement of a transmission line design without the complex cabinet design/construction. I'd like to know more about how they manage this. Alex Barefaced Ltd - ultra lightweight, high ouput, toneful bass cabs
