OT: Who is Bitch Slap.....?

...

Recommended Posts

For those who have no clue as to what I'm talking about, hit up this link: The Love

Now that the book has been out for a while and people have had a chace to read and digest... who do we think it is? For a while, I was really thinking that Bitch Slap was Jet. But Jet is from Australlia and the timing of their album isn't quite right for them to be our beloved Bitch Slap. This is of course, if part of Marv's big Plan that he didn't make up a history for these idiots.

Jet was just so choice for being Bitch Slap. They are a four piece, their bass player sings, they have a song called "Cold Hard Bitch" (the Penny Pincher song???"). blah. Conspiracy theories abound. Share yours.

I have been wondering their true identity for a while, have a few guesses but nothing worth sharing.

Jet seems pretty likely...

Bump, did you get that PM with my address? :)

Peace,

I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

Yeah... I thought it might be Velvet Revolver for a while... think about it... Egomaniacal singer (Weiland)... Drunk Guitarist (Slash)... Looney bassist who tries to sing (Duff)... but DAMMIT... Matt Sorum COULDN'T be Cotton. That bastard is too damn good. Unless, of course, Matt is the "hired gun" they got to replace Cotton... and Cotton is totally out of the picture now... I dunno.

I'm about halfway done with the book, and I'm planning on conducting an exhaustive search for Bitch Slap on company time when I've gathered all the clues. ;)

I seriously doubt Velvet Revolver though, gotta be some newbs.

Ah, nice marmot.

Well, see the thing is... Mixerman wrote that Marv says the only person in the band that really matters to him is Johnny Handsome (the singer) and everyone else is kind of not important. It could work in the Velvet Revolver case.. but I bet Bitch Slap is a band nobody knows now.

According to the original chronicles, former famous band and former famous singer. I thought velvet revolvet too, also audioslave. but of course Timmy C not being able to groove is just a flat out impossibility.

Are you sure he said famous? Mixerman mentioned that he had worked with Harmon and Johnny Enigma on a prior project when he first got started with this one, but I don't remember him saying that project had been a successful one.

Bitch Slap got signed in a bidding war (circa 2000) or so, and then were sidelined for TWO YEARS writing before the initial sessions began. The album chronicled during the Willy Show sessions was never finished, and they got dropped - so as far as I know, they have never released an album since they were first signed, ruling out Jet or Velvet Revolver.

Now, I don't know about the new stuff. :D

I personally don't think that it is an actual band. I think it is a collection of experiences that he's had over the years put together. However I don't know
Derek Smalls: It's like fire and ice, basically. I feel my role in the band is to be somewhere in the middle of that, kind of like lukewarm water. http://www.myspace.com/gordonbache

I vote for what Gord-B said - I think it's a composite of a lot of different recording experiences condensed into one slightly fictionalized project. BUT... that doesn't mean we can't play along, cuz well... cuz it's fun! :D

I don't think the Jet/"Cold Hard Bitch" connection can be factored in because Mixerman came up with the name "Bitch Slap" after a forum member posted it, and he credited the forum with having inspired the pseudonym.
