OT: Grad School Forum Hammerholder (with apologies to Dr. SW)

There was a "who is in grad school?" topic a while back. With S-Dub now in Ph.D. land, who is closest to getting their Ph.D. but not there yet?

I just finished my 3rd year of grad school (got my Master's in January), with probably three more years to go to Ph.D. Who's got me beat?

Tom Rivet is doing a PhD down under -- something about sand shift maybe? Geoscience? Help, Tom, enlighten us...

I need to change my screen name back to its less snooty former incarnation. Little snafu, but I'll work w/ the mods to see if we can't clear it up.

Peace.

Yes, I suppose it is manfish if you go to the Hebrew and Greek roots. Interesting interpretation, since the fact that my avatar is a shark is completely coincidental. My handle is what it is since Adam is my name and IXOYE is what the Greek spelling of "fish" looks like when all in capital Greek letters. And of course, "ichthus", "fish" in Greek, was used as an acronym (in Greek) by early Christians.

Close. Control of mineral sands dry plants -- think automation, feedback, PID, plant modeling, instrumentation etc.

BUT I'm about to stop -- as opposed to finish. My experiments, field trips, modeling etc are all done (not quite on the modeling, I blame the LDL). I given my supervisor three (3) copies of the same chapter since late Jan. He hasn't read it. I'm taking a graduate job as a control metallurgist (probably -- verbal offer only at this stage) down in Parkes NSW. Closer to home; Sydney. My wife is staying up here in Brisbane till the end of the year so I'll have plenty of time to practice -- and maybe write up.

I'll be done by the end of next year; no worries :thu:

oh no its 35C and 25% humidity...after 3 summers of 38C and 80% humidity I doubt I'll have a problem -- the first frosts I see may freak me out though

I'm thinking of starting a Johnny Cash/ Bob Dylan tribute band down there; do ya think it'll work?

btw, I'm driving to Dubbo on Sat. to check out the zoo, we're then going to Parkes to give it a once over before we sign anything. Then a quick blast over Bells Line and a holiday with the rello's in Sydney. You got any gigs comming up?

Me? I've just got a B.S. (and plenty of it). I've been thinking about going back to grad school...but, I'm not sure what I'd like to pursue. Definitely not meteorology. I'd like something that has a little more broad appeal...
