Is this like that guitarist I played with a few years ago, where we'd be at a gig and a song'd get called? And he'd turn his back and scrunch down in the corner trying to figure out what he was supposed to be playing?

Then: Damn. Wrong key. Shit. Wromg String. Oops. Wrong changes.

I don't know why he didn't just do it during the performance - just like he did for the rest of the set.

You can tell if your avatar is working/active on any thread just by posting to topic, or see that it has taken (or not) on your PROFILES page. And you can tell if the size is appropriate on your local machine.

Still reminds me of that guitarist who would turn his back and hunch over by his amp when he wasn't sure if he knew the part to the song. Everybody in the audience could hear him playing [wrong notes] just as easily as when he was facing them. Hilarious study in human psychology ; }

Mine's not "sticking" on my profile for some reason. It's 10K, the URL is right...it shows up in the little before I say Update profile...after I update profile, it then disappears. Any idears?

Here's the URL: http://www.ipass.net/davesisk/TwoBasses_avatar.JPG

Click Set URL after pointing to a valid internet address, then click Select This Avatar. Then you can see on your profile page if it took (and it will, if you did all those things above).

- even with mild compression, under 10K - also a little smaller...

OK, it sticks if I use one of the avatars from the library, but not if I use this pic on my homepage. Does the image have to be exactly 60x60 pixels?

Dave,

I was having the same trouble. Maybe held back due to flood control? Keep trying.

Try taking out the space between "basses" and "avatar". I don't know if that's it, but UBB can be tricky, and that has happened to me before...

Peace,

I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

OK, I've changed my avatar picture to a GIF from a JPG...let's see if it works now. I noticed all the canned avatars where GIF's, so maybe that's the ticket...

Bingo...that did the trick. Unfortunately, GIF's don't look as good as Jpeg's of the same size. Go figure...

Well, could be a false conclusion, but I just tried switching it to the jpeg and it disappears after I click update profile when it's a jpeg...when it's a gif, it sticks. I'll stick with the false conclusion unless someone can tell me something I'm missing... ;)
