bassaddik Posted July 13, 2004 Share Posted July 13, 2004 tonight i was flipping channels and landed on the show Casino ( CBS, i think?) and i remembered they filmed that at the Golden Nugget while i was doing the Martin Nievera show there- lo and behold, they showed the scene where a young lounge singer who wants to land a showroom gets to come up on stage... so there i was. for a second, if you blinked you missed it .. the funny thing is , it's supposed to be a reality show.. but it's so scripted it's not even funny- the whole surprise thing ( he was supposed to be surprised) was so BS... he knew what was going to happen, and the film crew was not a give away, huh? at any rate, it was great to see and hear Martin Nievera who is a world class singer and the real thing.... just thought i would share.... Praise ye the LORD. ....praise him with stringed instruments and organs... bassaddik Posted July 14, 2004 Author Share Posted July 14, 2004 Martin is a GREAT guy ! and an amazing singer... i am playing LA and Chicago with him and another of my favorites, Patti Austin . THAT should be a gas! he had some Europe dates next year, but I think he will be using his Filipino band.. they also sound great on the tapes... the bass player is a fine bassist. We signed releases. Martin got some air time and you could hear him sing and speak, all you could see of me was flipping the chart off the stand to get the next downbeat. I figured all reality show to be scripted somewhat, but to think Ozzy Osbourne is reading lines breaks my heart... Praise ye the LORD. ....praise him with stringed instruments and organs... They used a band I played with in Fla - they wanted us to hang around 14 hour days for free, for the exposure... someone else "played" bass- i think the singer's boyfriend... did i regret not doing it ? no.
