nodin
Hi everyone . I been playing guitar for four years and am now looking to purchase a bass. This will mainly be used around the house(apartment) with the ocasional jam with friends(in a real house). Since guitar is my main thing I'm not looking to spend a great amount of money here. I've decided I can spend around $400.00 to 450.00 So I've narrowed my amp choices down to the following three... Ampeg BA110 30w $199.00 SWR LA 10 35w $199.00 Behringer BX 300 $119.00 As far as Basses I'm leaning toward a Rondo www.rondomusic.bigstep.com but I'm also considering Yamaha and Ibanez and OLP. Any thoughts on these amps and Basses or any further recomendations? Thanks in advance. As with any instrument, the limits are your imagination. Mr. Phil
Ampeg and OLP Hands down. http://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/blue.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/black.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/fuscia.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/grey.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/orange.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/purple.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/red.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/yellow.JPG
badgerbass
I don't know about the Rondos but Ibanez and Yamaha make decent "starter" basses. Also check out the Peavey Microbass combo and compare it to the Ampeg. Good luck. Guy
Mudcat
Ampeg & OLP. No competition. The OLP bass (from what I hear) is a nice enough instrument you may never need (or want) to replace it with anything more expensive. Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Cthulhu Fhtagn
What the hell is a Rondo? Is that like a Brownsville? The $200 bass that NO ONE advertises but still have 23 of them in the store? Think of Carlo Robelli and Jean Baptiste (wind instruments) for Sam Ash and Squire, or if they have a store type brand, for Guitar Center. http://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/blue.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/black.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/fuscia.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/grey.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/orange.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/purple.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/red.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/yellow.JPG
Cthulhu Fhtagn
If I'm not mistaken (and I'm not), Robelli makes a line of guitars and basses, including a twelve string. bassdrummer
Look into the Yorkville XM50C 1x10 combo amp. Got mine used for $185 (shipped!) off of ebay and it sounds huge. Only weighs 26 pounds, has an XLR out. New, it's $249 (free shipping) at Musiciansbuy.com. I highly recommend this amp; I use it at my church and prefer it to our church's Carvin RL610 stack. Deep, smooth tone. Fits anywhere too. "All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players..." --Rush, "Limelight"
bassdrummer
Regarding basses, I had an Ibanez GSR200. Too much fret buzz and weak sounding open G string. I much prefer my brother in law's OLP 4 string --great full punchy sound. My current bass is a Schecter C-4 Diamond Series in Antique Amber which I love. Cost me $460 or so (including sales tax) at Guitar Center. Goes for $499 in Musician\'s Friend. Check out the Ibanez SRX400 as well. Huge sound.
