jeremy c
I just watched it on tape. By the way, you can watch the whole thing in real video or windows media player. Link to streaming version of the show. The show was ok, I guess, not really interesting enough to talk about. Maybe a non-musician would get something out of it. Free download of my cd!. Big Daddy from Motown
I was bored with the forum this week and went looking for an interesting thread from the past. The music industry died the day M TV came on the air. Now it's all about what you look like not the music. Check this out! http://www.crosbycpr.com/index.html
Fred TBP
OK, forget everything I just said. Hold the torches, fellow villagers, the monster has something to say! I'll just have to watch it first and post my opinions later. I thought the topic was "Woodstock: the day the music died". (Multitasking on the job has its drawbacks...) butcherNburn
My crappy unsolicated opinions: * If you had pick a moment Woodstock would be it. After all half a million people were there and 4-5 minion claim to have been. I personally think the "British Invasion" was far more important (in the US), it introduced a lot of middle-class American kids to 30 year old American blues, and I'm thankfull. * What people think of as "the sixties" is a bit conveluted. The summer of love was about a 3 week period in 1967. As far as year range I'd say 1967-1975. * MTV played a huge part in today's music. It was a positive thing for about the first 10 years, after that it's been all downhill. If you look at their programing it's only 10% music at best, and popular music isn't much different. * The modern music scence is a combination of a few isolated Greman techno albums of the 70's with American Idol or American Earache as I prefer to call it. * As soon as someone is paid to play music, or pays to hear it, it's a business, nuff said. Just a throwback for some people here... Remember lying on the floor, staring at an album cover while listening to the music. If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing!
