DJ-Wood
Hello, I would like to know what insurance gigging musicians in the UK take out to cover their gear? I am purchasing a whole new setup this year, with a view to gigging with my band for the first time. I'm interested as to what complete insurance policies any of you might have taken out that cover gear in the home, in transit to and from venues, and playing in venues. I'm suddenly accutely aware of the insurance issue, as my best friends flat caught fire last week! (He's fine, but had no insurance to cover any of the things he's lost). Gord -B
I got mine from endsleigh insurance who specialise in student insurance Derek Smalls: It's like fire and ice, basically. I feel my role in the band is to be somewhere in the middle of that, kind of like lukewarm water. http://www.myspace.com/gordonbache

If each item is worth less than £1000 you can just select a total amount of all risks value, which works nicely for all my pedals and rig. For more expensive items you'll need to specify them, with serial numbers/photos/receipts. Regardless, in the event of a claim, you will need proof of ownership of the items. You'll probably end up paying about £2 per £100 worth of all risks cover.
