coyote
Or perhaps you prefer the tighter radius and greater range of the AR15? Or the reliability of the HK91? What works for you? Speaking of the AKs...some bozo just shot up a monastery north of here a couple of days ago. Killed two monks and wounded three more. It was an old guy...ironically, who happened to be a former postal worker. Investigators are saying it didn't have anything to do with any alleged molestations. He shot himself after the event. Bobro
If I were ever forced to take to the hills, I'd choose whatever weapon the enemy was using- that way they'd do the work establishing my supply lines. :D I can do a good job thinking paranoid, the list of genocide victims with pix of dictators that Dix posted in the other thread includes members of my family. But a squirt gun filled with Jack Daniels would sooner be found concealed on my person as things are, and let's hope and work that it stays that way. strat0124
AK47, what a wonderful squirrel gun, really has its place in the great outdoors, plus its a family gun, children just love it! Oh...I almost forgot, the evil liberals are coming to take your guns...vote Republican....cause they never take away your rights, and they never shirk their responsibilities, and are sooooooo honest. You really need an AK47 in every home, like Martha says, its a good thing! :) Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in

Stephen Fortner
Anything by Heckler and Koch, or the Belgian defense contractor Fabrique Nationale (the FN-FAL and FNC rifles) is waaaaay better built than either the AK or the AR-15. Think of how solid your favorite piece of expensive recording gear seems, be it a Neumann mic, Manley Voxbox, whatever, next to the functional but pedestrian stuff on the shelves at GC. Besides, I get tighter bass from the "bang" of the HK. :D Stephen Fortner Principal, Fortner Media Former Editor in Chief, Keyboard Magazine Digital Piano Consultant, Piano Buyer Magazine Industry affiliations: Antares, Arturia, Giles Communications, MS Media, Polyverse

Really, there should be a background check and a waiting period before some of these "singers" are allowed to step into the room with a mic. When will the madness end? How many will have to suffer? The sonic signature of an AK being fired is definitely different than that of the M16. If the enemy can't hear the difference, then they don't know if you're friend or foe by the sound of the weapon - giving you a tactical advantage. I've never been a fan of "spray and pray". I prefer a good semi-automatic for my personal use. Accurate AIMED FIRE wins the firefight every time. Besides, do you have any idea of how hard it is to get legal ownership of a full auto weapon here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia? The good thing about the AK47 is the reliability. You can grind dirt into the receiver and it still cycles. The 7.62 X 39 is a good intermediate round, and ammo is cheap - but watch out for corrosive primers. A SKS is probably a better choice for most people. Get training first!

Skip_dup1
I got into a little debate with a marine buddy of mine about that-he says the AK is crap-no adjustable sights, no forward assist. But it`s more reliable, fewer moving parts. For a handgun, I`ll take a sig-sauer. Say, isn`t FN a French maker?
Philip OKeefe
FN is Belgian, and they make really nice weapons. I've got a FN built Browning Auto 5 12 guage (circa 1946) and it's a great shotgun. Insofar as handguns, I have two preferences: Glock and a good M1911A1. One because it always goes "bang" (over 5,000 rounds - and counting - down the tube of my Glock 23 without a single misfeed, stovepipe or jam of any kind... THAT'S reliability!) and the other one because it's what I shoot the best.
Matt.Hepworth
Here is a great FN Herstal link. Note the P90 submachine gun. 10mm rounds designed specifically to penetrate body armor and to tackle several opponents at one time, if I remember correctly. http://www.army-technology.com/contractors/machine_guns/fnherstal/ No matter how good something is, there will always be someone blasting away on a forum somewhere about how much they hate it. Sylver
My weapons of chioce are peace and love and a fully loaded Fender Strat. Oh, wait, none of those will kill people, will they? Never mind. I'll take a medium range thermo nuclear(nucular is certain areas) war head. Now that's bang for the buck! I really don't know what to put here.
