OK, I get it, it's a 3 string. But... What's up with all the knobs? I mean, if it's a 3 string to simplify, then I think a wrong turn has been made there. 3 strings should mean 3, maybe 4 knobs, tops. Maybe a switch, too.

Unless, that is, they all make the bass sound really shweet. Of course. Then it's all good. :)

Seriously, cool looking bass. :thu:

Peace,

The three stringer is a Hotwire bass. Apparently tuned C-F-Bb. (www.hotwire-bass.com) I can't testify as to whether it sounds shweet or not, but there are a bunch of sound clips on the Hotwire website. Some of them are pretty interesting.

what do you think?

Well, I think... Ash body w/ matching p/u covers, maple board, chrome hardware. Not having heard this bass, I have to judge it on looks, and, for me, the dark finish would benefit from a darker color board, and the (primary)tone characterictics of ash might benefit from a rosewood or ebony plank as well. On this darker looking bass, black or gold hardware would be preferred. And I don't do red basses like Jeremy C does blue ones...

Just 'cuz you asked...

Peace,

I agree about the hardware and general aesthetics around color, but disagree about the 'board. I like the sound of a maple 'board w/ an ash body, but I could be persuaded that an ebony 'board would work nicely in this instance.

I do like the deep red color of this bass, although, like my esteemed colleague, wraub, I don't do red basses the way JeremyC does blue ones... ;):D

Like Adrian, I loves me a nice F bass -- too bad I don't have one. :( (Although, Adrian, I almost risked my marriage to make you an offer on that gorgeous blue F bass you had up on your site for sale... )

Folks, it's not all blue basses around here.

The list:

basses:

Mike Lull M4V....custom blueburst

Paul Reed Smith V....navy blue

Carvin LB76....blue stain

'71 Fender Jazz..sunburst

Musicman Sterling fretless..tobacco sunburst

Ashbory...red

Fernandes P copy...black

Hohner ABG...orange stain

guitars:

Rogue strat copy...blue

Gibson J-50..natural

Jay Turser 135...cherry sunburst

And in the past many other colors have been represented around here.

All contributions gratefully accepted... ;)

I agree that the bass that started this thread would look better with a dark fingerboard...I suggest Pau Ferro.

I like ebony or brazilian rosewood for the fretboard of said poster's bass.

Unfortunately, it's "had" a 3-string StingRay. He lost some gear in a fire, and that bass was one of the ones to go down. I don't think he's had EB MM re-create it for him.

But admit it, Jeremy, you have a special place in your heart for the blue ones... ;):D

If that red one comes in a 4-string, I'm on it!

*Drools over 3-string* I might just make one for fun. Of course it'll be a plywood special, but I just want to prove I can do it. Never finished that guitar I started though...

All my basses are red, so that F Bass has the look I love. I would prefer a darker wood on the fretboard as well - not for the look (it looks cool either way) but for the sound.

Before his place burned down, Kevin Brubaker had done some work with staining the fretboards. I'd like to see that maple board stained red....

I'm usually pretty picky...but that first pic almost made me cum in my pants!

The grain-matched wood pu covers and super slick neck are gorgeous. What is this bass & how much does she cost? (wishful thinking more than anything else!)

A three string bass?

When did this happen? Why doesn't anyone tell me these things? Need the info people.

Sheesh.

I can't imagine though what I would ever use that third string for. I mean, sheesh, isn't just E and A enough? What is this now, rocket science?

Next you'll be telling me I can upgrade my old Edison Wax Cylinder Repliduceratoratrolicor.
