Thats OK ...

BTW, how does that finish get made? Is it painted or is it the actually Stained wood?

I saw some bass in BP that had a photographic quilt finish.

It is definitely not a photographic finish. I am no finish expert (Bastid E, where you at?!), but I'm guessing a stain or dye that emphasizes the figuring in the maple top with a gloss clear poly on top. But, I really am just guessing here. :(

Yep, that would be my guess too. One of my basses has an extremely nice flame like that one. But, you know, it's not blue, so Jeremy will never want to take it off my hands. ;)

I thought we'd be talking Crash Test Dummies here!

The basses are purty, though.

I wish I could post my electric blue with tinted maple neck G&L L2000. It's not quilted but I like it just the same and it's only 1/4 the price of the sadowsky.... That quilted blue sadowsky is awesome looking!!!!!

DBB - thanks for reminding me of that great song.

Roger Sadowsky spoke to a group of Low Downers last November. He explained that they cut tops and put them on the bodies, but can't tell for sure how the wood will take the stain and finish. Roger showed us a body that seemed like a nice flame maple until it was stained and finished - at which point the face of ET (The Extraterestrial) showed up smack in the middle above where the pickup route would be. FWIW, he's holding it for when Spielberg wants a bass....

These are beautiful pics. I always though Kevin Brubaker did a good job with wood...
