BenLoy
I thought this would be a nice contrast to the Grundy stuff I just posted... Here are some newly completed tracks that I did for an acoustic singer-songwriter named Jeremy Borer. http://www.mp3.com/jeremy_borer Comments and criticisms welcomed! Tom Capasso
I didn't listen to the song (I always seem to have some issue with mp3.com - I guess I'll try to re-register). But I did hear this stuff LIVE. At a show that included Mrs Grundy, so contrast was quite direct. Ben's lines for Jeremy show a melodic quality not in evidence in Grundy (for good reason). I enjoyed Ben's work very much!! Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. orphan wells
Ben, I love your playing. Your such a strong bass player. On the song "The Message" you played everything I would have. I was thinking of licks and melodies and you were playing everything was thinking almost note for note. Are you using the MM Stingray for recording? Everything sounds great. You're the man. I didn't come here to play. I came here to make babies.
BenLoy
Man, you guys are so kind...seriously, thanks for the kind words. You guys should be checking out Bumpcity, JeremyC, and bassaddik as well. All three of these guys are some bad mofos!!! Yep, it's the Stingray once again. There's really a lot of different sounds you can pull out of the thing...I really like it.
...
"The Message" F%$# you. Bastard. You played a very solid and supporting bass line that wasn't ever too busy. There were several times where I was thinking to myself, "oooh, I would have done *this*!!!" And 'this' was always too much for this song. Taste-T-Taste. "One In A Million" OOOo, yet another track of tasty 'play for the song' stuff. I like what you did during the intro bit a lot, very cool. At about 3:35-ish there is some really cool movement that you are injecting into the song that just works. Good stuff. "Breathe Life" This is my favorite song of the lot. It reminds me of a band that I played with for a while. Oh man. Tasty. You're a great player, man. Friggin great player.

Funny, that was my least favorite song when we were recording it. There was only acoustic guitar and drums when we were laying the tracks down (the tracking room was so tiny that we could really only do one instrument at a time.). I was worried that my lack of enthusiasm would rub off on the performance... After hearing all the strings and keyboards on it I think it's my favorite!
