small gig set-up

I'm curious about this speaker http://www.billsbest.com/thbasscab.html

I don't like lugging heavy gear and so I play through a power amp and separate cab (15" tweeters...actually a cheap PA speaker). The 15" isn't too heavy but it is really big. What do you guys think about really inefficient speaker cabs? I've got 1.2kW power amp (short term, peak to peak, bridged... really 180W rms into 8 ohms stereo) which I'd like to use in a really small set-up. What'd be the way to go?

that seems like a pretty cool little speaker, especially since it gets 112dB at 125W. that's a lot of sound for not a lot of power.

a more expensive, but equally compact (actually it's slightly smaller), solution is the bergantino HT112. 38lbs. and 300W power handling at 8 Ohms. check it out. it's part of my dream rig.

Well, I think Len was after several things:

1 - Price $225 +-

2 - F Range 35-5k

3 - Size

He did succeed in putting the above in one package. The BagEnd, Flite and even Bergantino solutions do have better power handling and may even be more efficient but they do not have the Frequency range that Len's design has. Sure, I like Bagend and Bergantino myself, I just think the whole point was to meet the three design objectives, Price, Size and Range. IMO :)

You have the right to remain in the groove, any solos cannot be used against you, you have the right to snap and pop, if you cannot snap and pop, two fingers can provide the funk just fine.

From what I've read about bass cabinet design you can have low, loud, or small. Choose any two. :)

My Bass Cabs are home built. One traditional spec JBL Birch ported bass bin with a single JBL D130 15 and a 4x12 Oak cube sealed Cab using Celestion Greenbacks. While they don't offer a lot of power handling they do create some toneful SPL's. :D

sorry jeremyc. I was curious about what else Leo had to say and I thought I'd search the archives, I had read the article.
