dcr Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 What I think we have here is a fundamental failure to define our basic criteria. Or, somethin'. Aw screw it: GEEZER BUTLER IS THE BEST BASSIST EVER EVER!!!
davebrownbass Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Mark Schubb. And that band made a great appearance on Mad TV last week. So much more mature than Derek Smalls. Still spendin' that political capital far faster than I can earn it...stretched way out on a limb here and looking for a better interest rate.

jeremy c Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Dear 4_sTrInG_BaNdItO, Don't waste our time! Everyone knows that Flea stole everything he knows from Bootsy. Plus he plays in a band with the worst singer in the world. What's up with that? And besides that, the best bass player in the world is either James Jamerson or Jaco Pastorius. Wait a minute, they're both dead, so they can't be the best players in the world, they must be the best players in heaven. You will see from the kind of silly responses you get to the original post that most of us here consider topics like this to be a joke. Lurk for a while longer before you post again. And welcome to The Lowdown Lowdown. Free download of my cd!.
tnb Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Danny Partridge is the finest bassplayer - EVER ! I pity the fool who disagrees.

I think Mr. T would disagree, because he is the finest bass player ever. I know I've seen a picture of Mr. T playing bass somewhere...(Jeremy, can I get a little help or do you only have the Lisa Simpson one? Maybe it was RockwoodB who posted that Mr. T playing bass pic?) Peace. spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. Messiaen knew how to parlay the funk.
J Reed Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 recently I have been listening to Vic Wooten, he's gotta be up in the high ranking bass players. He sounds like 2 basses going at the same time. Reed http://www.amkickstand.com/
The Bear Jew Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 OK, first things first -- 4_sTrInG_BaNdItO, you MUST cease and desist using my avatar. The skeleton guy with the scythe and hourglass is MINE and MINE alone. Just kidding. Welcome. But seriously, please... no "best bassist ever threads," ok? We all know the best bassist ever is Lemmy. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu

dcr Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Should we wait for CMDN to say "your mother," or is one of us gonna have to do it?

_Sweet Willie_ Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Lotsa mamas coming up in this thread. Anybody on the board actually have a mom who plays bass? (This is vastly different than being a bass-playin'-mutha. Please don't confuse the two!) (This is also vastly different than having a mother who grills up some bass for your dinner on occasion. doc taz Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 <--- That guy. He's Jean-Yves Theriault. He was called Blacky in Voivod. If you met him on the street today, though, he's more likely to be in a designer suit, and a nice haircut, with jet black hair. That's because he's the CEO and founder of Vkool Communications . Jean-Yves has also done several electronica albums since leaving Voivod, and recently played in a thrash tribute band of sorts. More on that HERE. (edit) That's not Blacky, now that's me. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page
