Here is my first attempt at a definition of GAS - at least for me:

The constant urge to acquire new gear or to update and/or change the gear you already have - wether need or not.

Necessity has no part of the decesion where GAS is concerned. Knobs, sitches and lights, however, do have a great influence.

There are two different GASes:

1.Gear Admiration Syndrome

2.Gear Acquisition Syndrome

Most times I have GAS1. I get GAS2 when something that caught my attention in GAS1 drops to a ridiculously low price.

I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist.

This ain't no track meet; this is football.

I know a new bass won't help me sound better, I need to practice instead of looking at bass gear on the internet. But a new bass sure will be fun to hold and caress. I want a new amp so THE BASS will sound better. :D

Ahhh, this helps. GAS1 is well within my price range! :thu:

That gives some definition and hope to those of us who are not true practitioners of GAS2.

While I'm pretty sure I don't have GAS, I fear it may be beginning to bite, after buying my distortion pedal I was looking through a small leaflet I got in the box with it, so many of the things in there I badly wished I could have.

I fear for my bank account...
