Alex Al: Wicked grooves!

I get my streaming Internet audio from LAUNCHcast, http://launch.yahoo.com. It will stream you songs that you have rated highly before, or from artists you have rated, or from artists that have been rated by people who like the same artists as you, etc.

So I just got a song by Paul Taylor, an alto sax player out of Colorado. I immediately had to load up allmusic.com to find out who was playing bass.

Alex Al is the man. Turns out he's also played recently with George Benson, Boney James (awesome sax work), and must have been on studio call when Christina Aguilera recorded her 2002 album, because he is one of 3 or 4 bass players credited on it.

I highly recommend any of the Boney James albums, and the Paul Taylor song that caught my ear was Come Over from the Hypnotic album.

Anyone ever seen Alex Al live or know if/who he tours with?

Hey that link isn't working. Anyway, I don't know much about Alex Al, except that he does a ton of sessions here in L.A. I would certainly like to know more about him. I think there was an article about him in Bass Player not too long ago if I'm not mistaken...
I have no homepage.

Alex played bass on one of my sessions for Christina Aguilera. He was amazing - no edits, no punches. We did four takes and the third one was the keeper. Totally locked in with the drummer Brian Frasier. For those that care we went direct through the DI input on my Manley mic pre with no compression.
