Ninja
Hi, I went to the Toto concert here in Rome yesternight, and I discovered a few things. Mike Porcaro is one of the most precise and shy bass players in the world. Steve Lukather looks like he's evolving his sound towards heavy metal; his volume was so loud!! Simon Phillips dosn't need any comment Greg Phyllinganes, who was replacing David Paich, was quite in the general spirit of the band. Bobby Kimball is unfortunately getting close to the shadow of himself, though he tried hard and sometimes he managed to explode his voice. Great was the audience's surprise when Al di Meola came out for an unexpected duet with Steve, and that was one of the best parts of the gig. Anyway, I would rate the concert 8 out of 10. Has anybody of you had the chance to see them recently? How is your opinion? Peace and greetings from Italy. www.myspace.com/fabrizioruggiero www.myspace.com/vanalientribute Who are we? People. Mark Zeger
Toto is one of those bands I appreciate more now than I did when they were big. I always liked the song "99" from "Hydra". I'd love to see them. Did anyone hear the "David Paich sex change" story? Very funny. Purely as a joke, the band's website listed "his upcoming sex change operation" as the reason that Paich wouldn't be on this tour. Only one problem: news wire services picked up the story as if they were serious. I guess Paich is spending time with his family and Greg Phillinganes is an amazing replacement. Ninja
Yes, the reason for David Paich's absence is more serious; Steve told us he remained home, close to his sister who is sick. All the audience felt quite bad, but wanted to share his grief with an applause as long as those dedicated to Jeff and Sir George Harrison, whose spirit was with us when the band performed "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". www.myspace.com/fabrizioruggiero www.myspace.com/vanalientribute Who are we?
