Of all the s**t luck! Stanley Clarke, my first bass hero, is doing one night in town, and I've got a gig!

For you forum members in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, and not gigging that night, he'll be at Jannus Landing, July 18 (Friday), show starts at 8:30pm.

Hmmm, I wonder if I'll be sick that night. Yeah, that's the ticket....Peruvian Jungle Rot Fever....yeah....don't wanna infect the rest of the band....yeah....

I think I'll go cry myself to sleep now...

Aw, quit yer bitchin'. It beats missing a show because you're too broke to buy a ticket, which has cost me many shows before. At least you'll be a little too preoccupied to dwell on it that night, whereas you could be stuck at home all night saying, "Dammit, Stanley Clarke is onstage right now, and I'm stuck at home, flat busted! DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!" That utterly sucks. At least you've got a gig. As I like to say, it's a nice problem to have.

"I had to have something, and it wasn't there. I couldn't go down the street and buy it, so I built it."

Back when I was scratching out a living doing club gigs I missed Jaco because I was working that night. Everyone who went to the show told me how great it was.

It's easy in hindsight to see how silly my decision was, but at the time my gig seemed of paramount importance.

Since then I've had many many chances to make 75 bucks, but I'll never be able to see Jaco live.

Richard, that was well put.

Damn it! :)

As much as I toyed with the idea that nite I read he was playing here, I just have this integrity thing inside saying it wouldn't be cool to beg off that nite from the band. And it's only a bar gig, too.

You're right, Jode, I guess this is a 'better' problem to have than not having the money. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt (because it was cheaper than the tickets). :)

Just hope no one I know goes and tells me how good it was.
