jeremy c
I noticed in another thread that one of our European friends was apologizing for his command of the English language. For those of you in non-English speaking countries, we welcome you heartily! I have seen posters here from Central America, South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the British Isles, the Far East, the USA, Canada and probably more places. That's one of the things that makes this forum so great. Most of the gentle and not so gentle posts urging people to type, spell, and use proper grammar are aimed at young Americans who don't seem to realize that their posts are seen by thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds all over the world. (And that every past post can be found with a search engine.) Please, even if you are unsure of your English, participate in our forum. Whenever I have been out of the US, I have tried my best to communicate in the language of the country that I am in and have had nothing but positive experiences. Once again, remember that we are all part of the world-wide brotherhood and sisterhood of bassplayers. Free download of my cd!.

Ren.
I'm from Central America (although I'll be moving to the States in a week). Got a few posts around and gotta say that the best way to improve your english is posting... and posting again. Is cool to have people from around the world. For the hispanic community inside and outside the US, there's Nuestro FORO (MusicPlayer, spanish spoken forum). GBF
Hey there Jeremy, i'm writting from Brazil... be sure there are bass players from everywhere here Scales don't do music. Melody does.
Tom Capasso
Let me heartily applaud Jeremy for starting this thread. I agree with his sentiments. Over the years I've observed many posts from non-Americans. Sometimes there are small errors, but they were always easily understood. The rest of us would see the location of the poster and recognize that English wasn't the main language, and so be patient and double check if a point was not clear. For (mostly young) Americans, the poor grammar, spelling, and attitude is painful. I'm tired of it. My advice (along with the spell checker) is to simply re-read your post before pushing the "Add Reply" button. This isn't a composition class, but obvious problems could be corrected. Worst of all is the problem of attitude. Negative, nasty, inflammatory posts are not welcome here. This problem seems to be uniquely American. My thanks go out to all the true "contributors" from all over the globe. _Sweet Willie_
Hear, hear! Benvenuto! Bienvenidos! Wilkommen! Bienvenue! Welcome to all our international bass playing brethren! (And an opportunity to correct my translations of "Welcome" in a few different languages.) I had an opportunity to play bass for an amateur band in Italy about 10 years ago. It was a great experience and I still keep in touch (although not often) w/ a couple of my Italian musician friends. They had to deal with me struggling through, but improving, my Italian during the year we played together. You will get nothing but patience from me in helping you improve your use of English in this forum. It is a great way to practice to post here. Maybe even share some of the vocabulary you use in your language for musical stuff, so we all become a little better educated! Peace. spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. davich
I'm currently working in Taiwan, originally from Indonesia. Hopefully My English is sufficient. My only complain is that I don't have enough friends to hang out like you guys did, either in LA or in NY area. Not so many products available here in Taiwan also making me nuts sometimes. Not to mention that I need to speak Chinese here in Taiwan to explain something I need, like taper core strings, for example. Or to find a teacher that can communicate with me. I stay here from 2001 and got a lot of supports. That's why I stay. I also participate in talkbass and TBL, but I never post like here, only posting one or two times. Harmony-Central is just not for me.
Cup
You forgot about Ireland Jeremy! Not a worry though we're forgiving people. Personally I think one of the internets greatest assets is that it is without borders, I love to see foreign posters and I equally love having this window on all things American....Off Road motoring, baseball, Thanks-giving etc etc! Ohh, I like the bass stuff too. Cup
jeremy c
I did say the British Isles, Cup. I didn't realize that your island was in a separate category. wraub
Apparently, that old saying about "The U.S. and England being 2 countries seperated by a common language" applies to Ireland as well! Peace, wraub I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

As I've already said in the other thread, I thank you all and apologize for any errors, and I think I can speak on behalf of the other non-english speaker friends out there, too. This is a very interesting forum and I found it as an escape from another one here, where people aims too much at poisoning the atmosphere in our local area, as if playing was kind of a competition. Rome is a big city, but there are too many (bad) bands and a small bunch of (good) clubs. If some of you means to come here on vacations, you will be welcome anyway, and perhaps we could set up a jam together, ok?
