_Sweet Willie_
It's my birthday tomorrow (6/19), and I realized that if I didn't let my bass brethren know, I might miss out on some great gifts. Here are some examples: Speaker cabs -- I'm sure Whappo's on top of his game and I'll see a crop of AccuGroove "cabbage" arriving via UPS tomorrow. Power amp -- robb. has probably already wrapped up a Peavey DPC1400X for me w/ a nice bow on top, that he'll drop off during his upcoming visit to Chicago! Cables -- BobG's got some great stuff to link gear together... Bass -- That Seismic Sweet Willie Sugar Bass #001 must be close to completion, right wraub and E?! Lessons -- JeremyC and DBB are re-arranging their schedules so that they can take turns coming out to Chicago to tutor me... Musical mirth -- The rumor mill has it that Yogi & Half Zaftig, Mrs. Grundy, Bassed on Jazz, Sashi Tewari, Cottonmouth Down, and everyone else's bands are all submitting versions of their recordings of "Happy Birthday" for my review and listening pleasure on a special edition LDL birthday compilation CD. Liquid mirth -- Where are the expertly brewed ales, beers, stouts, draughts, lagers, etc. from my international pals in the UK, S. Africa, New Zealand, and Australia?!?! How 'bout some videos from the Six Nations tournament and past rugby World Cup competitions to watch while I imbibe?! Get it together, gents! And so on and so forth...you get the idea. I happily and thankfully accept belated gifts as well! It has been a pleasure discussing all things bass and otherwise with y'all this past year. Thanks for the info, the insights, and the laughs. Peace, --Willie spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. Messiaen knew how to parlay the funk.
davebrownbass
Happy Birthday Willie. You are a class guy...in fact...lots of classes. If you ever make it to North Texas, we just have to get together. PJR, you have always struck me as an intelligent guy -- you know that you have plenty of stuff that would make excellent gifts. So many basses to finger, so little time, right?! But if you're having trouble thinking of something, don't bang your head into a Wal (just wrap it and send it!). spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. BigBoyBigSound
I realize that I'm new to the forum and you don't know me. Nevertheless, Happiest of B-days from way down in Houston!!!! Why do I play bass?? Because when you thump an E or B string at the same moment someone stomps on a bass drum you can create THUNDER. Then Zeus is in trouble. Its like being a god, and you don't even have to be a good player to do it. Join a good band and you can conquer the world. Or at least make some people listen. wraub
Willie, I missed this thread originally, so let me the first to wish you a Happy Birthday last! Hope it was a good one... You are an asset to this forum, and a nice guy too. (Sorry that's all I have right now. Have you priced walnut lately? ) Peace, wraub I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here. _Sweet Willie_
Thank you everyone for the kind wishes -- even if the mailbox has been empty ... wraub, I have yet to price some walnut. Thanks for the thought, though. I had a nice day. 33 doesn't feel much different that 32, but it certainly feels a bit different than 23 did! Some family, some friends, some burgers, dogs, and sausages, some beer (very much in moderation (which is fine at my advanced age ), and, of course, some cake and ice cream! My kind of birthday. Y'all be good! Peace. --sweets spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. Messiaen knew how to parlay the funk.
