devlin Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 But I want something I can't find (sound familiar?) I've played a few (a Tobias, a Stingray, a Fender, and a Warwick) and I'm leaning toward the Tobias. But here's the crux of the problem-- the Toby I played was mostly bubinga, and if I buy one, I'd like it to have the crisper tone that a maple top might provide. Has anyone seen or heard anything about Tobias (not MTD, I checked the site) making basses with maple tops anymore? I know they built them for awhile, but I haven't seen or heard anything for quite some time. If anyone knows anything, I'd appreciate the info. Email me at: skellington76@hotmail.com if you can help. Thanks.
... Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 You might want to pop on over to Gibson's website and have a look 'round. Lot's of options available. Be warned, they don't make 'em like they used to. Gibson-made Tobias basses are a mere shadow of the pre-Gibson days. Basic series
