Wally Malone
Been so busy almost forgot to post this one. My wife is getting another honor today from the California Music Awards. The event is in Oakland and we'll play a five-minute slot when she receives the award. Larry Graham is on the show as well but we have to leave right after she gets the award since we have the headline slot at the Boulder Creek Arts & Wine Festival. Wally I have basses to play, places to be and good music to make!

dcr
Congrats! I've known a number of women who've stepped in & kicked @ss at what was supposed to have been a man's game. They're special people. You're rightfully proud.
Wally Malone
dukbut, my wife is credited with being the first female rock guitarist performing and recording with Bo Diddley. She is the other guitar one hears when listening to Bo Diddley recordings. She played with him from 1956-62 and then again from 1969 into the early 90's. On the second period I played those gigs as well. Her stage name is Lady Bo. Here\'s a link that can give you a lot of details. Wally I have basses to play, places to be and good music to make! Wally Malone
At the CMA today I played through a Mesa Boogie rig and it sounded good. Never had a chance to check or tweak anything, went up plugged in played my song and right off the stage. Those big outdoor concert type gigs usually have a fairly decent rig and if you have a bass with good tone selection it shouldn't be a problem getting a decent sound. If the person before sounded OK then what you need normally won't be that far off. On my second gig today I used my Eden Metro along with my Accugroove Tri-12 and it kicked out some big sound. Both gigs I used my Kubicki Factor, when it comes to R&B, Blues, Rock and Funk I leave the six-string at home. Wally I have basses to play, places to be and good music to make! dukbut
Please accept my congratulations along with everyone else. I must say I am very impressed with both of your accomplisments. I made a quick check of the link you provided, I intend to go back later today and spend some time there. There is nothing better, to me that is, than music from the roots. I consider Bo Diddely a very important branch of those roots. Your wife's story is very cool. I am sure both of you could fill an entire forum on tales of the road and inspiring encounters with other formative American musicians. Hats off to you both!!!
