Mark Zeger
Nice surprise this morning. Lester Holt, who is the interim co-host on the weekend Today show, is a bass player. Unfortunately, you had to watch him sitting in with The Captain & Tenille to hear him play. He played a lined fretless Fender Jazz and was solid, playing a few simple fills and taking a short but competant solo.
_Sweet Willie_
Lester used to be one of the local Chicago news anchors/reporters. I never knew he was a kindred low end spirit! Cool...thanks for the story! Peace. spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. Messiaen knew how to parlay the funk.
73 P Bass
He did slip a little out of key during his "solo", but he was playing a frettless, so who am I to judge ! "Start listening to music!". -Jeremy C
Tom Capasso
One of the guys in my band wrote to me to tell me about this. Then he said I should get a job at G.E. (NBC's parent company) so I could get a better music break Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. fantasticsound
Yeah, I remember watching Lester on local Chicago news years ago. And I caught his bass playing this morning, too. Kinda funny, but hey... he's played on one more national TV show then I have, so who am I to judge! It's easiest to find me on Facebook. fantasticsound
I had a feeling... I'm a Steely Dan fan, but the change in my displayed name to Yes There's Gas In The Car was an inside joke with another poster at the SSS, Is There Gas In The Car?. It's been a while since I really listened to my extensive Steely Dan collecion. (Note to self... pull out all those discs and listen again. ) It's easiest to find me on Facebook.
