GeorgeR
A friend of mine, an actor, has a nice business card with a brief bio, a photo of him in costume and one of him not in costume. I'm thinking this is a great idea, so I'm fishing for graphics and layout ideas from friends, etc....in regards to what would be an effective and attractive business card helping sell me and my guitar for a living. My stage presence is influenced by the look of the "Blues brothers", in case that helps? Thanks. Beware the lollipop of mediocrity; one lick and you suck forever. fig
If you're using some edition of Windows, it probably has a version of Print Shop on it. Print Shop has a large variety of graphics to choose from. They have pre-made business cards that you can change anything about, or start from scratch. That's how I made this last batch of cards. Mine used an orange sunset and palm tree background with my contact and bio info underneath. You can import any pictures you like and adjust as you see fit. Hope this helps for a quick start or some ideas. Bassplayers aren't paid to play fast, they're paid to listen fast.

fig
Ooops!...My bad. I guess I'm used to buying comps with pre-installed extras. Damn it, I picked a fine time to quit sniffin' glue! Bill C from Nashvegas
Microsft Word can (indirectly) do business cards. Go to Tools, Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Mailings. Look under Labels. Check "Full page of the same label". Under Options, pick Business Card. (Can't help you from there though). Other option: go to the Avery web site and download some of their templates. I bought business card stock, preperforated, from Walmart, and they have a link on the package too.
Prague
Try using Card-discs. They are CD-R's that are the size of business cards. They hold 50M. You can then use labels with your regular graphics on them. They work on center-spindle type computer/CD players only, though. http://www.discmakers.com/rom/product_pages/cardblank.html
GeorgeR
I guess I wasn't clear.....it's not so much the mechanics relating to the "how to" as much as the "concept of" that I'm looking for...(and sorry, I don't use any Micro$oft products at all....all of their stuff is way overpriced anyway ) If I were to approach a card printer. I don't know what I'd have in mind to fit on a business card, so my question really is just what "look" would say to you "bassist" best on a business card, yet be affordible, subtle and professional looking all at the same time? Should I consider borrowing concepts as other bassists have used, like: http://www.mocamusic.com/pix/wif/where1.jpg or line art such as: http://www3.sympatico.ca/georges.rutkay/Vic_Wooten.jpg or like: http://www3.sympatico.ca/georges.rutkay/saralee.gif I have to admit the Orin Isaacs stage presence style is also what I'm into, with the 1940s/Blues Brothers style of clothes and the hat, but I don't just want to copy someone else on a business card, I'd like some originality. Or is there anything else I have overlooked? I'd like to see the business cards of other bassists and get ideas from them, not to steal them but just to help form some kind of suitable image to try and "market" myself as it were.
