not coaster MODERATOR
I played a few nice ones today including the Lakland with a blond neck, but it didn't take long for me to decide. I got the Sting-ray. It's teal green with a super fast, smooth and quiet neck. No fret buzzing at all. This seems like it's going to be a great studio guitar! Zorg
I bought a stingray a few days ago too! It's really nice and sounds mighty,I don't want to play my G&L anymore The only problem I found on it is dead spot,I tried 3 stingrays and every has one or two notes that can't last as long as others or sounds quieter than others. Is this a common problem for stingray?(My G&L has dead spot too)
groucho
Dead spots are a classic problem with all conventional wood neck basses - It's the reason Kubicki went "headless" Please -no flame/posts about how "mine has no dead spots" it varies - cause wood varies and the dozens of parameters involved in the neck vary - soooo some are smoother than others. Still - that Stingray with translucent green finish and a maple neck...ungh...must resist urge to buy one...mmmust resist... It is VERY sexy looking Yours with a rosewood board and black guard? Also very nice! (I just have this thing about maple boards going on - have not had one in 20 years and I feel a jonez to git one) if it ain't broke don't fix it... unless you need the overtime. SteveC
Congrats on your new bass. I played my Stingray 5 on a gig last night and received many comments on its great tone. Enjoy!
BenLoy
Welcome! Yes, stingray's have dead spots. Use it as a challenge to work around! You can play the same note in many different places...explore the difference between a D on the G string vs. the same D played on the D or A string. Anyway. I gave it a set -up last night and already recorded some tracks with it. Yes it sounds very rich. I'm honored to be in the club fellas! Gord -B
Hi, i got a sting-ray aswell. I know this is a really obvious point to make but its worth while to know. NEVER whap all of the of the eq's to full becuase there is a lot of power there and you can blow your speakers. Derek Smalls: It's like fire and ice, basically. I feel my role in the band is to be somewhere in the middle of that, kind of like lukewarm water. http://www.myspace.com/gordonbache
