Bob Gollihur
There are a variety of names for the different pieces of equipment that serve to amplify your bass. A bass head typically refers to the unit that is the amplifier, the electronic device that you plug your bass into. A cabinet (cab) is the box that contains the speaker(s). The head is connected to a cabinet by a speaker cable. If you combine the head and cabinet, they are often referred to as a combo, or combo amplifier (amp). However, the term "amp" may also be used just refer to the bass head by itself. There is plenty more to know and explain, but those are some basics... and there are other names for those pieces of equipment. 1000 Upright Bass Links, Luthier Directory, Teacher Directory - http://www.gollihurmusic.com/links.cfm - Life is too short for bad tone -
