Wewus432
Like Huey Lewis-Heart of Rock N' Roll The Who-Long Live Rock I don't know it just seems like you've run out of things to say when you start singing about the song you're singing. Can you remember anymore songs about rock n' roll? So I can remember to hate them.

D. Gauss
i can't think of any. i guess i'll just have to "rock on," or get some beer and "rock n roll all night," or maybe get in the car and "R.O.C.K. in the USA." Or tell the girl to "Keep on rockin' me Baby," or find some "rock n roll girls," at the "rock n roll high school." -d. gauss http://www.betteroffdead.com
stanner
not a pet peeve but i dont like them. 1)"i love rock&roll music"-peter paul and mary(!?) 2)"we built this city(on rock&roll)" starship i'm sure there are(lots) more. it just proves the axiom: if it says 'rock&roll' it probably aint. s  AMPSSOUNDBETTERLOUDER

Mark Zeger
The Ramones' "Rock & Roll High School" is exempt from bashing. Well actually, the song is 2 minutes of Mosrite bashing. More to hate: Rick Derringer "Rock & Roll Hootchie Koo", Wings "Rock Show".

SkiNNY MulLIGan
i get the original point of this thread, but some people are completely missing it...just because a song has the word "rock" in it, doesn't mean it's about rock n' roll...for those of you who missed it, that's what Cereal's post was making light of..."and if that Rocking bird don't sing"
coyote
Rainbow - Long Live Rock'n'Roll. Their worst song of the Dio era. I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football. Gus Lozada
"Rock this Town" --- Stray Cats It's really horrible to my ears when in a song it's mentioned the genre of the song... * I mean in a Rock&Roll song: "Let's rock" or "Let's rock" (uh that was the same thing :p )... * In a "Cumbia" Song : "Dance this cumbia"... "Diiiiiiisssisa blueeessss..." It's an extremely CHEAP resource. Tedster
Actually, I kinda liked "God Gave Rock and Roll To You". One song we hated when we were young (and I can't even remember who did it)..."Rock On"...that bit about "Jimmy Dean". We had a drummer at the time named Dennis Dean (God rest his soul). Dennis was a bit of a hardass...you didn't mess with him. But we used to tease him with that song, which he hated too. We'd sing (to the tune of "Jimmy Dean") "Dennis Dean"...and he'd come back with "Rock on, motherf*cker". I graduated in '75 with Dennis. Got word a couple years ago that apparently he had been depressed, and chose to bow out of life. Rest easy, Dennis. Hats' off to ya...and rock on... Wewus432
I like GusTrax take on this and I think the function of art is to reflect on life not to reflect on itself. I know your going to say Rock n' Roll isn't art but in a broad sense it is, so there's some tunes there I can dig but it's as they or somebody says it's the principal of the thang. I'm a songwriter and I have certain rules I adhere to, another one is any song that rhymes wine with fine or dance with prance is bad. PRANCE that's hardly even a word is it? The definition is to spring from the hind legs, usually referring to horses. Another thing I hate is changing the pronunciation of a word to make it fit in a song, and the worse thing is to mispronounce a word just for the hell of it. An example of that is the Journey song- When the lights go down in the citay. Motherfucker I don't where you are but I live in a city.
