Tedster, McCartney tix available at the arena?

Recommended Posts

Tedster, I have GOT to see McCartney. Coming to Dallas Thursday and Friday. This would be like the crowning achievement of over 50 concerts for me. My life will be complete. Well, sorta. Were there people selling extra tix at the arena? They still have seats available to buy from TicketMaster, whom I loathe but I'd hate to mess up. On the other hand, I've never seen a concert where people were not selling tix that they couldn't use because someone couldn't be there or just scalping or whatever. Of course, this is McCartney. So, is it different? Tix are $50, $85, $150, $250. Probably acc TicketGouger service fees on top of that.

I didn't see any scalpers at the arena. I did see a lady walking by asking to buy tickets. Very unusual to not see scalpers. A couple of people standing in line to get in even commented on it. You might have better luck there...but, if there are still tix available from the official scalping service (TicketScalper), I, er, would think about going ahead and buying them from them. My seat was the 85 dollar one, and by the time TicketGouger had tacked on their fees, it was 100 clams. But, it was worth it. Worth it to me, anyway. I put the ticket in my old photo album, next to my George Harrison ticket stub from 1974. Funny, the McCartney one, $85...the Harrison one was $8.50. My, how times have changed.

Would you recommend getting any ticket that is reasonably "in front" of the stage? Any idea if left of front or right of front would be any better than the other? If a ticket is available directly in front but as far away as you can get verus one closer but off the side, which would you get? I think this arena also has seating behind the stage but I'm not keen on that.

No, don't get one behind the stage. My seat was directly in front of the stage...uh...all the way to the back of the arena  ...but, the video rig he has makes it so there are no bad seats...and the sound was excellent. A very well produced show. Opened with what sorta seemed like some refugees from "Cirque du Soleil"...walking from the audience to the stage, and doing some sort of circus type acts. That went on for about 10 minutes, and then McCartney made a rather dramatic entrance "and the crowd went wild". I can tell you right now, I wouldn't want to be in the front row during "Live and Let Die". You'll see what I mean.

This may not have any bearing on the current situation, but in 1990, when Macca toured behind a huge show of Beatles tunes, 48 Hours did a behind the scenes look at the stop in Chicago. It was one of the first 48 Hours shows. One of the topics they brought up was scalping. The Chicago police were out in large numbers arresting scalpers or forcing them to part with tickets for the face value. (Which is perfectly legal, at least in Illinois.) I don't know if this was because it was Macca or just coincidence. YMMV.

It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman
