cherri
Dude, you forgot Elton John & Berni Taupin. How about James Taylor and Carole King? www.metalblues.com
DC
Well, Lennon and McCartney didn't write together that much. They'd finish each other's songs occationally and help when the other got stuck, but most of their tunes are by just one of em reguardless of the credit. Garfunkle didn't write shit, Simon wrote all of their stuff. Yep, Elton and Berni were/are a real songwriting team. Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo wrote a ton of tunes together. Did the Rembrandts write together? I think two of the Fountains of Wayne guys write together. Jagger and Richards write together (Stones). Tyler and Perry write together (Aerosmyth). Page and Plant wrote some together (Zep). Page and Robertson write together (Bare Naked Ladies). -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse

Yep, I forgot a lot of good one. I was going to put Page and Plant there, but i left it out because I don't consider them a duo. I think it was more of a band effort. Atleast in the early days of The Beatles, Paul and John did all their songwriting together (if I recall correctly), it was during Sgt. Pepper sessions that they started working independently. Damn, how could I forget Elton and Bernie?? A duck-pond, a museum, and a red hunting hat.

They always wanted to be like a Rogers and Hamerstein. That's why they made the now famous Lennon McCartney publishing deal. Later when they started writing seperately they regreted it and the rest is history. But they were a real song writing team and IMO the best ever. mr.tim
Dude, Hall and Oats. All the way. Anyone wanna challenge that? I'll give you my home address and you can come over and we'll have ourselves a good ol' fashioned fistfight. You'll be begging for Hall and Oats while you're sucking my cock with no teeth. Although I must say, Oats would be nothing without Hall. Hall was the pretty one, but Oats was the songwriting genius. Without Oats, Hall would be nothing. Oats is the greatest songwriting genius EVER!!! OATS IS GOD!!! ANYONE WANNA STEP UP TO THE ALMIGHTY OATS?!!! ALL HAIL OATS THE MERCIFUL!!! Anyway, I remember "Maneater" being a pretty cool song. hi All paying jobs absorb and degrade the mind. -Aristotle

mr.tim
I was just kidding about Hall and Oats. Actaually, I think the correct spelling is Oates. They were a cheesy 80's pop duo that I used to here all the time when I was a kid. They sang that song "Maneater". oo-oo here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up oo-oo here she comes she's a MANEATER!!! I was really drunk last night when I wrote the thing about Hall and Oates. Kindly disregard that whole rant. Really, though, I think the greatest songwriting duo is: Roger Waters and Syd Barrett or..... Rodgers and Hammerstien All paying jobs absorb and degrade the mind. -Aristotle

rockinredneck69
My first vote for duo will always be Lennon-McCartney. That will always be followed by Jagger-Richards and Stanley-Simmons. Donnie Peterson
Mike Dawson
I actually kind of like the idea of being called a punk. Can punks wear cowboy hats? Maybe a better poll would be 'Lennon/McCartney vs the free world'. There are some pretty good other songwriting teams named here, but comparing them to the Beatles is a bit of a joke. Except for the Barenaked Ladies comparison, I think those guys are right up there *Howard Zinn for President* **Pilsner Urquell for President of Beers!**
