surfjunkie
i've been reading that term a lot lately. it's used often to describe bad snare sounds, and i'm thinking it means that the highs are lost. can anyone be a little more specific? any tips for avoiding it? Franknputer
"wooly"? :D Never heard that one before! Sounds like one of those esoteric terms that so many people use to try to describe a sound in their head...they drive me nuts sometimes, they can me so confusing... My first guess is that you're right - I guess it depends on how you feel about hair on your snare, though...
miroslav
Wooly...Fuzzy...Blurry. Probably means it's lacking in... Clarity, crispness, sharpness. surfjunkie
i had read the term "wooly" mostly in british music mags, but i just saw it used by a "top producer" in this month's MIX (great pro tools artice- check it out). usually when there's a term i don't get, i sort of let it go, and then once i've read it a few times in different contexts, i start to understand. i just wanted to hear what the "pros" here thought of the term and if they used it. ... i was sure wewus would be the first to mention sheep. Philip OKeefe
"Wooly" to me normally means an excess of lows / low mids, with a lack of clarity and definition.
