surfjunkie
did anyone see the VH1 movie about the PMRC hearing featuring dee snider? they definitely went for humor and entertainment. the zappa character had some bad one-liners, and they kept repeating the title of wasp's "animal - fuck like a beast." john denver was too worried about going up in the space shuttle to be a useful witness. i must admit that i don't know all of the facts about the hearing, but this was fluff. i kinda liked it. Franknputer
I didn't see the movie, but I did see a bunch of the original cartoon... Seems funny now - back then, it was scary.
surfjunkie
wait.... what? the PMRC was tipper gore's "parent's music resource center" that put warning labels on records. hey, i remembered a question i was going to ask here- in the movie, mike love of the beach boys donated money to get the PMRC started, and "the beach boys" name was used to support the cause. i don't remember hearing anything about that at the time, anyone know anything? BTW- jason priestley stars as a lawyer working on the "home taping" issue who gets caught up in the PMRC deal, hence the "90210" thread title. i think i clevered myself out on that one :(
alphajerk
i just got done watching the second half of it... missed the first half. interesting ending, pretty lame though. how did denver blow the testimony again? you must of seen a different version than i did. "i feel high right now" -best line of the movie from john denver it was a really pathetic time in american government. p.s. i heard tipper played drums on one of the zappa kids record, how that for irony. alphajerk FATcompilation "if god is truly just, i tremble for the fate of my country" -thomas jefferson
Franknputer
I think the best thing about that whole debacle was FZ's "Porn Wars" track. :D
G. Ratte
I haven't seen this show, but any sort of tribute or mere mention of WASP's "Animal" is a great thing, IMO. GET THAT SONG NOW! Play it loud & proud! My friends & I always bust up in hilarics (new word) when the music stops at the beginning of the chorus and Blackie Lawless yells "AH FUKK LAHK A BEEEST!!!!" What a hook. I like to think of that during intimate moments, as it builds confidence. Remember the picture disc? Radial saw blade coming through a crotch. Woah. "Blind In Texas" is another brilliant WASP classic. G. Ratte' We Are Silly Pricks We Ate Sixteen Potatoes Why Are Slayer (more) Popular G.
